I have read a number of times detoxing is good for the skin, however if you have a lot of toxins in the body it does wreck havoc on your skin for the first few days or so. But afterwards beautiful clear, vibrant skin.
I also have read a number of times green tea is good for detoxing. I use green tea myself but well i still dont feel it is that effective enough. Maybe i need to up my intake of it. I have also heard about in the morning before brushing having hot water (not tooo hot to burn yourself) with lemon on an empty stomach. Iv tried this as well when i can get myself to do so or remeber to do so.
But i want to know some other alternatives or methods as well. Hit me with it please |

When I have fasted or semi-fasted (eat very low cal, healthy foods - just fruits and veggies) then my skin becomes very clear and it has this glow to it! Drinking water with lemon (possibly with honey) helps too, especially first thing in the morning. |

Simran - If your serious about a Detoxing program you should pick-up a copy of the book by Ann Louise Gittleman titled 'The Fat Flush Plan'. This is an outstanding book that provides a great education on healthy eating habits and sound nutritional guidelines. It begins with a detox to cleanse the colon and lymph system, detox the liver and flush toxins out of the body. The detox is awesome but the long term supplements and dietary restrictions make it a difficult program to follow for life. It uses a drink called the lifelong cocktail as its main stable for detoxing. The drink primarily consists of unsweetened organic cranberry juice mixed with ground flaxseed and psyllium. The detox and continuing diet also assists a person in losing unwanted pounds, dissolving cellulite, balancing blood sugar levels, increasing energy levels, and improving skin & hair. It is a great read and my husband & I use it to do a body detox several times a year. We have also continued with many of the recommended daily supplements and diet restriction although, we have not been successful in adhering to the complete program. |

ive had good results with the master cleanse detox, google it to find out more about it. i've done it twice for 3 days at a time and i'm going to try for 5 days soon. ive always found it to be good for my skin, which seems to make sense since detoxing cleans your organs, and the skin is the largest organ, after all.
to be fair, though, i tried out the cleanse after having had a really healthy diet + regular exercise for about a year, so i didn't have a major amount of toxins to get out, so i didnt go thru a 'wrecking havoc' period on my skin during the detox. |

many ppl suggested MSM,that's why I started 2 weeks ago, in the beginning I felt really dizzy, I guess that's the detox effect, but I dint loose much weights from that. |

If you really want to do a detox, I would suggest taking gentle herbs to stimulate the liver and bile duct - such as swedish bitters and dandelion. Also I have found taking increased dosages of vitamin C to help brighten the complexion.
If you want some serious detox, try something like the Colonix kit which cleanses the intestines, or even taking clay internally - all of which help to absorb toxins from the gut lining.
I have also started to take an omega 3 oil which is quite high in coconut and my skin seems to be reacting very positively. |

I did the brown rice cleanse last year and I loved it. I was cranky and tired for a while but it was so worth it. I lost 5 lbs in a week and a half and my skin looked better. |

That's great! I didnt get the same result. I lost some weights in my first detox program, then my second and third one I dont see much difference. |

I usually do a detox once a year and it does improve the skin. This year I'm going to do Colonix by Dr. Natura. You can find it on the web. I've decided to do the 3 month cleanse because of the medication that I've had to take this year. And my allergies have been horrible. In the past, I've always picked up a 7 day detox from GNC but I don't think that's long enough to cleanse my system properly. I'll let you know my results after I start the program if you would like. |

As an aid, I've found aloe vera is good (pure aloe in liquid form from health food shops). A capful three times a day, there's a special detox one with liquorice extract etc.
In terms of detoxing generally, I'm not a doctor or dietitian or anything but this is what worked for me.
Think of your digestion first and everything else follows. For example a good probiotic such as Udo's (no I don't mean those heavily advertised yoghurt drinks), cut out dairy and red (have fish and chicken instead), cut out alcohol at least for a bit, up your intake of vegetables, drink vegetable juices at least once a day say in the morning to give your digestive system a break (yes fibre is important and isn't in juices, but it's good to give your digestive system a break from it too and let your body get a nutrient hit from the vegetables, plenty of time to eat fibre later on in the day). |

Detoxing to lose weight is especially dangerous. All you're doing is just depriving your body of a lot of much needed nutrients and vitamins...
Daisylondon's suggestions are really on par. Vegetable and fruit juices, along with various broths throughout the day, are excellent ways to cleanse. Make sure it's all homemade though...don't detox on stuff from the store, since they're lacking most of what you need to sustain yourself for a day. |

I'll probably start my cleanse the last week of September. I'm having my baby at the end of this month (or at least I'm supposed to, LOL) and I haven't been told that I can't do it while breast feeding. I'm really looking forward to being able to detox this year. It'll be nice to control my own body again after 9 months of it belonging to someone else. Feel free to PM me any time. It'll be great to compare results with someone else. |

I would suggest taking a multi-vitamin. I've noticed a significant change in my skin once I started taking centrum. Also, if you have acne, I have heard taking a zinc supplement helps alot. (I never had bad acne but I would get an occassional bump and zinc completely stopped that). Also if you eat a lot of fruits and vegetables your skin will loook better, drink lots of water (it gets rid of toxins) & if you are looking for some good homemade masks, i included a site below that is really great. There are alot of things you can do for your skin as far as eating, just do a little google research and you'll find alot of results!
Hope this helps! |

Hey there mephex, welcome!
As a new member you can't post links yet. I forget how long or how many posts it takes to be able to do that.
I think there is a way to type out a link so it shows but I'm not exactly sure how that works. But I'm interested in the site you mentioned so maybe you could just name it. Or maybe PM me with it. Pretty please?

I think it takes 10 posts to post a link. Mephex, try typing it out but add a space before the .com |
