I just discovered this little gem at Sephora, and I am totally in love. I must own it. Looks like EDS doesn't carry it yet, but here's hoping they will soon! It's only $28, and it was literally the softest brush I have ever touched. So smooth, so gentle, and retractable = mega useful (and don't even get me started on the adorable hot pink packaging). Must have must have lemming lemming - but I don't know how it actually handles with real day-to-day wear. Has anyone tried this, and if so, could you please post a review? Thanks! |

OMG, I must have this!!!!!!!!!!!!! Too Faced's Teddy Bear hair is some of the softest and most luxurious hair I've ever felt, and aside from how cute this brush is, it's perfect for traveling. Thanks so much for posting this, Ginnie! |

Heh, I'm glad I got a reply! I agree that it's the most amazing hair I've ever felt - I wonder how they do it!? Anyway, in a moment of weakness and retail therapy, I bought both the kabuki brush and the regular brush set. Just so you know, they were sold out in-person at Sephora so I had to order it online - so prepare for that possibility. |

Okay, my Sephora order just came, and now I have the retractable kabuki brush as well as their whole other set.
OH
MY
GOD!
I have never been so happy at something so small, hahaha. I friggin' adore these brushes! They are SO soft, even my boyfriend freaked out about it (I took his hand and brushed it with the Kabuki brush and he was like, "WHOA, lemme see that!" and grabbed it from me, hahaha. I'll nurture an interest in skincare yet!) I used them for the first time this morning, and I must say I like the results. I'm pleased because I already have several brushes and one Sephora brush set, but it just happened that these brushes were different than all my ones I had previously bought, so there was no overlapping. The angled brow brush is great for applying my new Anastasia Brows In Bloom kit (also received in that order), and the fluff and angled eye shadow brushes grip pigment great, and are soft enough to feel gentle but stiff enough to be controlled.
And ah, that powder brush - so, so, so soft! Aaaaaaah. And the kabuki is lovely for applying face powder, and doesn't deposit annoying black hairs all over my face like my stupid crappy Sephora brushes always did. Soft, smooth, even, and makes it less powder-on-top pasty looking (I find that with Jurlique it leaves a whitish dust most of the time, but applying with this brush helped that a lot.) I'm in love!
I'm a very happy camper, that's all I can say. Go Teddy Bear Hair! |

Hehehe, both. Sorry for the confusion!
After I felt how soft the Teddy Bear Hair was on the kabuki brush, I splurged and got the set as well. I always rationalize it by getting enough to qualify for free shipping - even though I often buy WAY more than I would have otherwise that way! |

Ok, I tried this baby in Sephora the other day, and all I can say is that Ginnie was NOT kidding!!! This brush may even be softer and more luxurious than the fabled Alima #25!! I could NOT stop touching it in Sephora. I love the fact that it is retractable--- very easy to throw in my purse for touch-ups, not to mention very easy to pack for traveling. And it is just the most beautiful brush as well--- gorgeous metallic pink handle, cream bristles tipped with brown--- I'm afraid this is going to have to be an early birthday present to myself because it is AWESOME!! |

Hehehehehe, I just *knew* I'd convert you, liz. I was so clueless about brushes until so recently, that I'm kind of proud to have found such an awesome HG item all by myself, haha. It holds up in use too, I love how it feels and how it distributes powder, and the bristles don't get mashed out of place or outside ones kinked the wrong direction when you retract it (know what I mean? Lots of retractable brushes don't actually have the best retracting mechanisms and they get all messed up over time, but this one's pretty easy to keep nice). And furthermore, if you ever want a super-stiff kabuki, you can just slide up the cover a bit to hold the bristles in place, effectively making them shorter --> stiffer. I personally have no need for this, I just like that it has the potential for such versatility.
(In case you couldn't tell, yes, I'm still happy with my purchase!) |

Hey, so now I could use some sexy new brush advice - what's a good brush cleanser? I've always just used a mild liquid hand soap, but then I've never had really nice brushes before. Well, I used the same hand soap on my baby Kabuki brush, and now it's all - sad! I don't know how to describe it. It took FOREVER to dry out, and the middle brushes seem fine but the outer ones feel like they have some kind of greasy film on them. I really hope I didn't ruin my new brush for good! Could anyone weigh in on the best cleanser for synthetic brushes like this? (I like the idea of a more natural product, which is why I used my Avalon Organics hand soap, but obviously I'm willing to change if need be to something that's less natural but more effective on brushes!) TIA. |

i just have to say, what a beautiful brush...! i'm tempted to get one myself but im trying to hold back because i dont currently have a need for a kabuki brush (though i am thinking about getting a pearl silk powder for my face...)
im a watercolour artist and for my expensive sable brushes, i always use a mild handsoap to wash them gently in lukewarm water, then gently squeeze with a lintfree cloth to pick up the excess water. then i use my fingers to gently shape the brush back into place, and wrap the brush in a few layers of tissue then allow it to dry. you just have to be very patient and make sure that you've gotten ALL of the soap out of the brush. this is for brushes used to paint on canvas, though. if i did indeed get a brush like this that should be used on the face, i'd probably use a gentle facial cleanser like dermalogica ultracalming cleanser or something on it (in a really tiny amount, mind you, since the stuff is a bit pricey...) |

I PMed liz about this too, and she said clarifying shampoo and RINSE RINSE RINSE - I think that was my secret, it seemed like soap was still trapped in there! I need to buy more clarifying shampoo anyway, so this will be a good motivator. I miss my lovely soft 'buki! Glad to hear it's easily fixed, though. |
