Nothing too glittery or shimmery, just something neutral and natural that I can wear so my eyelid isn't naked when I don't want to wear a full coloured eye make up look. Does that make sense? TIA. |

Hi Rachael, you may want to tell us what's your natural skin tone and color? |

Hi Rachael! Knowing what your skintone is would definitely help in recommending what type of neutral you're looking for...cream, beige, pinkish... My complexion is light olive and I use LORAC eyeshadow in Nude to achieve that natural look. I also like Wet 'n Wild e/s in Cream, but that one is a little shimmery. hth |

I love MAC Eros - not to shimmery and not too flat. |

To echo what the other posters have said, we need to know your colouring, honey. I'm medium toned (NC37 last check) and BB Shimmerwash e/s in Malted works very well for me for the no-makeup makeup look. This colour works very well on a few of my fair skinned friends, too. HTH! |

Sorry about that, I should have thought to tell you all my colouring!
I'm relatively pale I guess, but never sure if I pink, yellow or neutral undertones.
To give you some ideas, I use LM MMU real sand, LM translucent loose powder, LM silk creme foundation bamboo beige, LM tinted moisturiser sand, LM secret camouflage SC3 (as you can see I'm a LM fan!), does that help at all? |

Think you are around MAC NC 25-30 then. In which case, hey my colouring! For a wake me up shade, I like Mac Paint Bare Canvas. I also like MAC Shroom (to highlight) and just anything that is a little lighter than my skin colouring and not too shimmery but yellow based. |

Hi Racheal, have you taken a look at Dr. Hauschka eyeshadows? The offer a couple of very neutral shades for either the barelythere natural look or the "I'm not wearing any makeup look".

The sunglow and peach are very subtle and a favorite of mine on weekends when I want to cultivate the "no makeup" look - it takes me 15 minutes to apply my makeup to look as if I'm not wearing any! |

Try MAC Patina or Mulch! Both are good everyday colors. |

I quite like Bourjois eye shadows for a natural look, there are some lovely shades which apply quite sheer and can be built up for more colour |

Since you're a LM fan how about some of her eyeshadows? I've got a LM eyeshadow palette which is one of my go-to faves. It covers the whole gamut of light neutral (Morning Dew, Vanilla Nuts, Caramel) to dark liner shades. I love Topaz which imho is a shimmery neutral. Stila also has lots of neutral but not boring colors. HTH. |

I use and love Chantecaille Sesame eye shadow. I use it all over my eyelid and it just adds very little color. |

jjirak, do you use any kind of primer under your eyeshadow? Dr. H eyeshadows last all day long for me. Before I apply eyeshadow, I use a concealer [MMU] from Everyday Minerals, then follow with a quick dust of silken pearl primer powder. |

The eye shadow primer from Urban Decay called Primer Potion is fantastic for making eye shadow last. I have oily eyelids and this has my shadow lasting all day. Neutral shadows I use frequently are Bobbi Brown Shell, MAC Malt, and Chantecaille Sesame. For reference, I am fair-neutral complected, NC20-25, Chantecaille Vanilla, LM Warm Ivory. |

This is a bit of a weird suggestion, but my new "barely there" shadow is actually brow powder. I recently purchased an Anastasia brow kit that contained two powders, one light that's perfect on my dark-blonde brows, and one darker that's just terrible on me! But the darker one works incredibly well as a shadow. It's quite subtle and totally matte, but it has enough pigment to make my eyes pop a bit more, and it's a very nice neutral shade. So if you happen to have any brow powders, you might give that a try!
I also used to have an Aveda shade, called "Rain" I think, that was similarly matte and finely milled, but it had a bit more of a gray-brown tinge to it. With my coloring (pale and with pink undertones, but not über-pink, and also some yellow tones I recently realized), I think something that's neither gray nor brown is ideal. Hope this helps! |

I really like the Bobbi Brown Nude Shimmers. They aren't too shimmery or glittery. They are great for the just barely there look and I wear them every day to work. |

I absolutely love MAC Painterly in "Painterly". It's matte, long-lasting and looks really natural - your own skin, but better kind of effect. If you want to make your eyes pop more (without looking drastic), you can add a little shimmer in the form of something like MAC "Gleam" eyeshadow. It's a fabulous combination, and looks even better if you use MAC Fluidline in "Rich Grounds" as a liner. |

Shroom (neutral), vanilla(warm)and yogurt (cool)from MAC are my basic everyday favorites. All satin finish..not too powdery and not shiny. |
