This year I decided to try some Ugg boots for the first time.
Imediately I see there are also Rocket Dog, BearPaw and others, which are very very similar..
So I'm hoping you ladies can give me the lowdown on these boots: are UGG label much superior to the cheaper ones, or is it just a label thing?
Thanks!

PS I know some of you will simply hate them and say "Eeeew".. but I am a Comfort Freak, and may as well confess that I also wear CROCS!! Cool

I haven't tried any, but am tempted by UGGS myself. They're supposed to be incredibly cosy, comfortable and toasty warm in the winter. One thing I have heard, though, is to probably go down from your usual size as the sheepskin flattens down so the boot feels looser after a while.

I'm afraid I just can't bring myself to even look at Crocs, though! I don't mind other people wearing them, but they are just so not me! Laughing (I'm the ridiculously stupid kind of person who will wear beautiful shoes, even the ones that make my toenails drop off. Embarassed )

majorb, you are in the Uk , arent you? Hasnt it suddenly turned seriously COLD!!

I was walking past "Office" shoe shop this morning and saw the Uggs, and for the first time thought "I NEED THOSE!" - I tried them on and they felt sooooo good.

they might be addictive, I sense.

Looking on the net I see all sorts of copies/competetitors and am confused..

I now what you mean about shoes, majorb. Before I had children I wouldnt have even considered wearing anything less than elegant.

O how my standards have fallen! Shock

I'm not sure how easy these are to come by internationally, but I bought these last winter and I swear they are my favorite shoes EVER:
http://www2.victoriassecret.com/commerce/application/prodDisplay/?namespace=productDisplay&origin=onlineProductDisplay.jsp&event=display&prnbr=3E-205208&page=3&cgname=OSSHUBOOMCL&rfnbr=3733

I hate looking inelegant and so I always told myself that I would just tough things out and not buy winter boots, however, this past winter in Cleveland was like a mini ice age with several feet of snow and sub-zero temps (see picture below), and I started to notice that when I was out running errands my feet would start to get numb--- not a good sign. To remedy the situation I cracked down and bought these boots from VS, in leopard of course. I cannot begin to say how glamourous and adorable they are! Whenever I wear them my husband calls me his snow princess.^-^ Not only do they look adorable (under or over jeans), but they are the most comfortable things ever. They are lined completely in faux shearling, so like Uggs they feel more like a big slipper than a shoe. It's kind of like walking around on air. And to top everything off, once I started wearing these out I noticed my whole body was warmer and more comfortable since my feet and legs were warmer.

aaaah! liz, that photo makes me realise what a wimp I'm being here in snow free London, where all I'm dealing with is the shock of summer being over!

your link takes us to 'page not found'.. maybe you can tell the name of the boot and I can find it via a site search at VS?

I"m wanting them, just from your description!

I have been wearing UGGs for over 10 years. I have tried other off brands and there's no comparison to UGG. For the money you'll spend, UGG will last much longer. They have so many cute styles and colors now, it's really just a fashion choice for you. Wink You'll love them!

Sorry about the link Catski--- I clicked it just now and got an error message too, but then I cut n paste it in a new browser and it worked fine, so you might want to try that. Failing that, go to VS's midcalf boots, and on the bottom of the 3td page you will see "faux fur boots." There are actually two kinds side by side--- I'm talking about the cute ones that come in leopard, black, and white, not the strange shaggy ones next to them, lol.^-^

I like the UGGs best Catski. I work in my barefeet so I toss on the UGG's in the winter and head to work, sans socks. They feel wonderful. My daughter wore the UGG slippers that look like topsiders as her school shoe last year.

ha, Liz. I saw your boots! They are completely adorable. Very Happy Really gorgeous. I can just imagine you in them too. So Lovely!

BluesHeart, hello! There is something very seductive about slipping a bare foot straight into that softness, I agree.

Naked under a fur coat is not going to work for me these days.. barefoot in a fluffy boot would be more my thing.

I'm in the UK and am looking into getting my 2nd pair of Uggs. I've had my first pair for about 3 years now. They are the comfiest, coziest boots I've ever had, they keep feet so warm with or without socks. I'd highly recommend them Smile

If you do a search for "Australian sheepskin boots" you'll get lots of different makes and models. Some, like Aussie Dogs, have removable insoles. Nothing like a fresh insole!
