hi i'm new here. i joined because i like to find out about products before i go and buy them.
As for this hydroquinone product, i was not so lucky. I had bought it for some hyperpigmentation beside my nose and on my chin. However, when i put it on for the first time on these areas before i went to bed, i woke up in the morning with a red discoloration (like a sunburn) on the areas it had been.
The cosmetician at Shoppers AND the pharmacist were both like, "ohhh that has never happened to anyone before!"
needless to say i got a refund, and am trying to heal this thing. It has been about a week since that one fateful night with HQ. but the marks have darkened. and i'm thinking, "Am i destined to walk around with this rediculous chemical burn on my face the rest of my life?"
It has been lightening a bit because I have been using Vit C capsules from the Body Shop, but i want it to heal completely.
I have blonde hair, blue eyes, and extremely sensitive, fair, burn-instantly skin. Perhaps HQ works for people with thicker skin?? |

Hi resolution, welcome to EDS! You may want to do a search on hydroquinone - Some members opt not to use it because of possible links to skin cancer and it's banned in other countries.
I tend to think it's a relatively safe ingredient in moderation, but there are some who've experienced really bad reactions. So no, you are NOT the first person who's experienced irritation with this product. I hope you can get your money back.
I've used it successfully on the backs of my hands [pretty thin skin there] but it was a lower percentage [2%] and it worked very well. Even with that lower percentage, the manufacturer [Murad] recommends using it for no longer than 3 months.
Hope this helps,
