Lefemme asked me about this foundation I just picked up, so rather than hijack the Boots No. 7 concealer thread, I thought I would just go ahead and give a review.
First of all, I have to say it's rare for me to rave about anything, but I still have to say I do like this foundation for everyday where. It is non-comedogenic, and has SPF 15-18. I find this easier to use than MMU, so I have a feeling this will soon become my favorite. I bought Natural Light Ivory, not sure if that's the right color for me yet.
Surprisingly for a stick foundation, the coverage is light and sheer. My skin can breathe! It evens out my complexion, but does not provide full coverage on my melasma-stained cheeks. Also, if you have blemishes, you'll still need a concealer. I put this over my Laura Mercier primer, and finish with Boots No. 7 concealer. The first day I did this, a male coworker told me I looked incredibly youthful. I'm giving credit to the highlighting factor in the concealer, but maybe the fact that this foundation blends well and does not magnify pores also helped? |

Thanks for the good info, Nadjazz.. I really do need full coverage for my reddish, splotchy face though, so I guess I won't try it. Lola now has me interested in Laura Mercier's stick foundation. I'm wondering what kind of coverage it gives. I know Mercier sells a liquid foundation that's supposed to provide full coverage. Maybe I'll try that one. Armani also has a "full coverage" foundation and I looked at it online today. Sad to say, it's $65 USD!! so I'll have to give this one some thought.. |

lefemme,
I can relate to the reddish, splotchy face, gf, I have rosacea!
I understand the need for full-coverage foundation, but I would like to suggest that you get to the bottom of what's causing the redness. In the last year, I've really focused on using non-SLS products and adding CPs and gentle exfoliation to my routine. I still get occasional flareups, though, usually because I've tried something new that doesn't agree with my skin!
I think I'm going to explore the Laura Mercier products suggested in this thread, thanks Lola! I'm not opposed to shaving my face, LOL!
When I bought the primer, the SA told me that LM has rosacea herself, so it's important to her that the products don't cause irritation.
I also got a sample of the LM MMU! It feels great, but I think the color I got is too light. |

I wanted to update this review with a recent occurence...I'm dealing with red, flaky patches on my face, due to overuse of a mask...but that's another story.
In an attempt to conceal the red patches, I've been using my Shiseido stick foundation. I use a flocked sponge to smoothe it out. It definitely conceals the redness, but is still sheer and light. As with just about any other foundation, it does call attention to the flaky patches, but I just try to be careful and not pile it on to look "cakey". This foundation still looks better than any of my MMU brands (EDM, Alima, LM) when it comes to playing down the dry patches.
As always, I apply my Boots no. 7 concealer to under eyes, inner corners, and corners below my nostrils.
A lady I work with asked me what I was using, because my skin looked so good. This is the same lady who always notices and comments when my face is red and splotchy.
This is the second compliment I've received on my skin since I've started using Shiseido "The MakeUp" Stick foundation. I think it does a better job of giving the "airbrush" effect than any MMU. It stays on all day, so I don't even bother using primer anymore. I have even applied this over a layer of emu oil and aquaphor (when my skin was extremely dehydrated).
I think this is the HG foundation for me! ![Very Happy](images/smiles/biggrin.gif) |

Okay, I think this is turning into a rave now...
Today I did nothing more than emu oil, Shiseido stick, and Burts Bees lip balm. I forgot to use my Boots no 7 concealer.
Two compliments: One from DH as I went out the door (said I looked so pretty today), and one from the coworker who has the crush on me (once again, commenting on how young I look).
Yay!!! ![Angel](images/smiles/eusa_angel.gif) |
