About 5 years ago, I wore braces for a year to straighten some overcrowding teeth on my bottom gumline and to bring forward one tooth that sat behind my bottom teeth. I wore my retainer religiously for about 2 years after, but lost them and didn't bother for a while to get them remade.
My teeth are basically straight and still very healthy, except for that one tooth directly next to my front one. It has slightly set itself back and though it is not a crazy, overly obvious change, it bothers me!
Do you think invisalign could fix this? And would I be crazy for wanting to fix it?
It may sound trivial but it really bothers me. My smile would be pretty much perfect if it wasn't for this one tooth!
Are there any options out there that won't empty the bank account for something like this?
Thanks gals! |

Have you spoken to your dentist about it? I think if it's bothering you then it's worth fixing. I have looked into invisalign before though and it seems that it takes longer to do its thing than normal braces do (plus it's $$$!). You could go with standard braces that go behind your teeth, instead of on top, but it just seems like a lot of discomfort and time just for one tooth. I hope there is a better solution out there for you. |

Sounds like you can get a half tray, which goes for about $2500. Pretty pricey for a minor fix! I am doing Invisalign and I am not very impressed at all. My teeth move back within hours, so I have to wear my retainer every night. I understand people have to wear retainers, but I can literally feel my teeth move back into their original place within the hour after I take out my trays. If it was cheaper I think it would be ok, but it's so darn expensive that I don't think it's worth the expense. |

I think invisalign is pretty pricey for such a small problem, although I can understand wanting it fixed.
I'll bet you could have bands reinstalled for a brief time - maybe even just 6 months or so, to move that tooth back - it might even be possible for them to make a retainer like appliance that would have an attachment that pushes directly from the back on the one tooth....then get new retainers made and wear them for life.
Many othodontists will meet with you for a free consultation - might be worth your time.

Ive got the same problem. I had braces yrs ago and the mouth guard they made me to wear afterwards moved one of my front teeth forward. And moved the tooth next to my front tooth back a bit.
I really should have made a fuss about it but was broke at the time and was just glad they let me off paying the rest of my braces off.
Ive thought of getting the problem fixed but it seems like a huge cost for 2 teeth! And i just havent got the money anyway... |

If the tooth you are having issues with is on the bottom..I bet they can use a modified retainer to move it back in line..and then place a permanent retainer to make sure it does not move back. find a good ortho..they usually can suggest alternatives to braces/invisilign. |
