Hi Everyone,
Just want to say what a fab forum this is.
I just purchased the tca peel, and im wondering if anyone has any advice or success stories they could share.
I'm trying to get rid of brown spots on my cheeks and fine lines mostly below my eyes and especially and more irritatingly above my lip.
Couple of questions if i may:-
1. How often can a tca of this strength be done
2. Can you do a section at a time, dont wont to look completely ghastly.
3. Is it that important not to pick, i did the area between my eyes and couldnt resist.
Look forward to hearing from you all

Hi,
I ordered a 12.5% TCA peel from Platinum Skincare and I love it. From my understanding you don't want to do a TCA more than once a month. And I wouldn't think picking would be a very good idea. That's your skin flacking off and maybe you could cause scarring by picking.
As far as spot treating, I don't see why not. I suppose you'd have to keep track of exactly where you did it so you don't repeat more than once a month in the same area.
If you go to Platinumskincare.com they have a TON of great info on peels.
Good luck! |

lola,
Do you do a one layer 12.5 peel or two layer?
I bought the 12.5% peel a few months ago, and still haven't tried it. I thought it best to wait till the summer is over so I don't have to worry too much about being careful being in the sun after the peel.
What results do you get with this strength peel? Thanks. |

Hi Debster1000, (i luv ur name, it sounds like a futuristic barbarella type) I know, I'm strange.
Anyhow back to the point,
I've only done the 12.5% twice and both times I only did one layer, the first time I was a bit nervous so I used a very fine layer. The second I was more comfortable and so I used a more generous 1 layer. My skin just got slightly pink and I noticed a little peeling in certain areas, but that was it. In between those two TCA treatments (which I did 2 months apart) I do a 40% Glycolic every 10 days and leave it on for only about 4 mins each time. So, I think my skin was really prepared for the TCA. On their website they do recommend that you prepare your skin for a few weeks with a glycolic. I do the Glycolic peel routine every 10 days for about 6 weeks, then I take a month break and I start again. It's really kept my skin quite clear from breakouts, and my pores very small. I'll attach a link to a picture so you can see my results.
Hope I was able to help some!

lola,
Thanks so much, that was very helpful.
I think I may go for the 1 layer peel the lst time and then, if I'm brave enough, try a 2 layer peel the next time. We'll see how it goes.
Love your pic! Very pretty, and wow, those lips are gorgeous. |

Hi lola,
I'm going to do a full face tca, in a month or two, I did the area between my eyes and forehead, but my forehead didn't frost after two layers, but the other area frosted straight away. How do you manage doing a full face when some parts frost before others do you neutralise that area or wait to completely frost and then neutralise. Hope i'm making sense.
thanks

I actually didn't frost much, it was very light in some areas. I just left it on the entire time eventhough it didn't frost everywhere.
Thanks for the complements... |

Hey Nicola,
Facial skin varies so much from cheek to jaw to forehead so it takes time and practise to get to know your skin so that you can perfect an even frost all over.
I think if you really wanted you could neutralize certain areas and let areas carry on but I think it would be a bit tricky.
I personally don't neutralise anymore - I let the TCA stop working on its own as the Baking Soda thing used to sting my skin and has caused inflammation in the past.
Also it is not necessary to 'frost' to get a good peel. When I did my first few peels I didn't always frost all over but I would still peel in those areas as wherever the TCA touches will make the skin peel in some from or other from light flaking to sheets. HTH Dips |

Hi lola/dips18,
Thanks for the great advice, cant wait to get started, on hols in October to Sunny Tenerife, (i live in Wales, UK) so thought id wait until i get back to the miserable UK weather before i start, as i heard your skin becomes sensitive to the sun afterwards.
Loving this forum

Awww thanks Dips
So sweet.
I'm proud to say I'll be 29 in a few months. I do take good care of my skin, I have used sunblock religiously since I was 19. But I noticed a real improvement when I started using glycolics. My skin really got clear after that.
Have a great day!! |
