I originally considered putting this thread in skincare/make-up, but it doesn't really fit there.

Proof that no matter how much money they have, how much incredible skincare, exercise trainers, and whatnot: they need retouching too. |

Once you discover photoshop it is hard to look at any celeb/model photo the same again. 
I logged in to put about BS in the celeb gossip page... her new photoshopped ad is just over the top laughable.

I always knew lines and wrinkles could be taken away. The flawless complexion is not shocking either. But....I never knew inches could be taken off the waist line.  |

Halle Barry still looks amazing though...not too much of a difference in that pic!
I don't know who that person is, but I love how they took out the fat bulge that was hanging over her pants!! |

I will never be bothered again about the way I look for my age after seeing some of the celebs.
What we need is a Photoshop mirror. Think of the money we would all save. |

I consider myself to be very good at using Photoshop having done a degree in photography and digital media, but these photos of celebrities are photoshopped way to much, which gives all of us non celebrities false hope. I believe that slight retouching is all that is needed, possibly getting rid of a pimple, fine lines, dark circles etc. Air brushing like on those images just gets rid of peoples characteristics.
I think most of the celebrities still look good but Kate Blanchett and Halle Berry look amazing before retouching

I have to admit, I often fall into the trap of thinking that if I could just apply my make up a little more skillfully, or if I could just perfect my skin care routine a little bit more, I could look like the celebs in magazines. However, this site shows that even these top celebs with all the money in the world at their disposal still have age spots, clogged pores, etc before getting airbrushed--- it definitely makes me realize how unrealistic the standard set by magazines is. (Take a look at what they did to Kelly Clarkson's picture--- it doesn't even look like her after they finish it! ) |

Definately agree that Halle Berry still looks amazing in both instances.
But woah some of them look...literally like a different person. They might as well not apply makeup at all for those photo shoots and photoshop everything!
I think our EDS members skin look heaps better than those celebs! |

| I don't know if it was Beyonce or what, but I also loved that insta-muffin-top removal shot, haha. If only I had a mirror that did that. This was very refreshing, and even more pronounced than most before/after shots in my opinion, since we get to see the exact same image and you can see which lines move where. Awesome link! |

Wow!
the youtube video was amazing. I knew wonders could be worked with Photoshop but I didn't know things could be taken to this extreme. I have Photoshop CS2 and can do a bit of retouching but this was something else.
I have a friend who has a large tummy, and at a house party she held,all the photos that were taken of her dancing showed her bare tummy hanging over her jeans She was mortified by this, so I photoshopped her sweater down over the bulge!

| Hey ricky! How does CS2 compare with Photoshop 7? I have photoshop 7 and I use it to do freehand illustrations and some photo manips, but I am wondering if it is worth it to upgrade to CS2. If you know, I would love to have your opinion. |

Yeah, Cate Blanchett and Haley Barry still look good in their befores.
I actually feel bad for Kelly Clarkson. Look at how they shrunk her ass and thighs, making her look like a waif when she's clearly not. Like, there was probably an actual, probably brief, conversation about what to do about her big butt in the picture.
"Should we shrink this", he asks as his cursor rolls over her hindquarters.
"Yeah, shrink that up... a lot," comes the reply.
(I think she looks better, and definitely more human in the before) |

I have a co worker who does the same job I do in another office/state. His boss was a heavy set woman. His papers had been in for his promotion for a long while.
There was a photo of her from an event and she was mortified at how large her butt, etc.. looked. He photoshopped about 40 pounds off her and gave her the picture! She loved it! Shortly after he got his promotion.
She moved on but the photo hangs in his office and he tells everyone it is the photo that got him promoted. |

I had photoshop7 previously and then got CS2 and I love it. I am so glad I upgraded. There are so many extra features in it. Just so much more to play with! I think Adobe Bridge is fantastic for managing your images in Photoshop, for me its worth it for that feature alone. HTH
