I've been searching through old threads about different techniques on how to remove ingrown hairs and I can't quite seem to find any solutions. I have ingrown hairs on my legs and elbows and reading through the forums, I guess a lot of people experience them on the bikini areas?
I just wanted to start a new post with new solutions so I don't have to dig so much I've read about Tendskin and BikiniSaver? Are there any more readily available products (so I don't have to order online) or homemade remedies?
Thanks in advance for any help on the subject |

I swear by a pair of Tweezerman's, they have the sharpest points, perfect for the tiniest pores and fanastic for ingrowing hairs. |

It might be a good idea to identify why you're getting ingrown hairs. Using a dull razor? Its also puzzling that you're getting them on your elbows. Care to elaborate? |

Heh, I was just thinking the same thing! Ingrown hairs usually occur when there's been hair removal. Are you sure that what you're experiencing on your elbows isn't actually folliculitis? This is common in many women (it can also happen often on the upper arms near the shoulders) and sometimes the treatment advice is different. |

It could hardly be the razor as its only removes hair on the surface. Are you shaving in the direction of the hair growth and not leave the hair too long. Maybe you should try hair removers with a growth inhibitor cream they are great especially skin doctors one |

Hi all! I actually didn't know you could identify why ingrown hairs are there. Hahah Maybe it's a dull razor? I don't know. My most irritating ingrown hairs are on my legs so maybe that's why. I use Skintimate shaving gel and a venus razor. I do not believe I have folliculitis (from what I've read online after researching it ahaha). Well, I guess the hairs are not directly ON the elbows, but near them on my arms. They are like small little circles that I use tweezers to pluck out.
I read somewhere about exfoliation being helpful with ingrowns? I bought a loofah and have started scrubbing daily. I don't know if that's helpful, but it makes me feel better that I'm using a gentler method than some scrubs and just tweezing. hahaha ugh I feel so inexperienced and unknowledgeable in these things haha. When I see ingrowns, I just HAVE to pluck it out and I'm afraid of all the scarring that can come from this =/
Thanks for all the help and comments tho! |

You can make your own Tendskin-like product with witch hazel and uncoated aspirin. I think the concoction is 1 ounce of witch hazel and 12 aspirin. dissolve the aspirin in the witch hazel, shake well, and apply with cotton balls.
Benzoyl peroxide is also good for stopping ingrowns, but it's not great for skin, so weigh the pros and cons.
I would think cleansers with glycolic acid and/or salicylic (spelling?) acid would also be good.
Good luck! |

I have found exfoliators help prevent ingrown hairs. |

Exfoliating in the shower and then using a lotion with AHA or BHA should help. |

I hate in grown hairs! I try to prevent them as best I can, but usually perform ineffective surgery on myself once I have them.
For those of you who use tweezers on the bikini line - what technique do you use for removing the ingrown hairs? |
