I've been reading some great things about aloe vera - how it contains vitamins A,B,C, & E, as well as many minerals and amino acids. I know the gel from the plant has long been used to treat burns, but it looks like it might make a good topical for anti-ageing.

Has anyone tried aloe direct from the plant as part of their skin care routine? What did you think about it?

I've tried natural aloe vera as a mask. It is very refreshing.

I don't think it would the most effective for anti-aging. I think there are other topicals that have been proven to be effective for that. But aloe is soothing and excellent for burns.

I have an aloe vera plant. Fresh aloe vera gel is great for mixing into creams or other beauty recipes (hair masks, lip balms and so on) but I don't like to use it neat because the gel doesn't sink into the skin well.

It also smells a bit strange Confused

I rub the freshly cut leaves onto my legs and use it as a shaving gel; that's good and if I do cut myself the gel is healing and seems to stop the bleeding.

If you use aloe vera a lot, buy an aloe plant. It will save you money as every time you use a tube (leaf) another one grows back. It also requires next to no care.

Don't expect it to be a miracle anti-aging plant, but I'm glad I have my aloe plant and I'm thinking of getting another one. If mine died I'd definitely miss it and buy another one.

I have a few of these plants at home! If you like to cook at home and you accidentally burn yourself (which I do often because I'm a klutz, lol!), immediatly break a piece off and run onto the burn, takes the pain away IMMEDIATELY and prevents scarring. Never used my plants for skincare but I am willing to try anything, I love aloe vera!! Very Happy

I have a plant at home. Nothing beats it for sunburn relief. Just cut it open and rub it on. Keep a spike in the fridge and it the cold gel will be such a relief.

I imagine fresh would be better than any extract or gel you could buy, for any purpose the gel is good for. But keep an eye on it since it is all natural and doesn't have preservatives.

I got the skin rejuvenation infopack from smartskincare. com and in it Dr. Torodov states flat out aloe vera does not cure wrinkles. I was hoping it would be a great natural alternative since it has all those vitamins, minerals and amino acids. Bummer.
