Permanent eyebrows - couldn't be happier!!

I've been told that I have a nice eyebrow shape and arch, but I'd always had trouble applying brow powder and/or pencil evenly and without looking silly.

I have permanent eyeliner and because I was pleased with that micropigmentation, I finally looked into brows. BUT I was exxxtremely picky about who I went with because brows MAKE the face (IMHO)... My girlfriend recommended Michaud Cosmetix in Boston and after a 4 month (!) wait to get an appointment here are my results (done on Thursday):

Your new brows look really good, although the old ones looked pretty fine as well.

The colour and shape looks very natural, unlike some “tattooed” brows I’ve seen. You obviously got a good artist to work on you. Congrats, and please take those new brows out for a nice dinner and drinks!

Wow, your eyebrows look great, very natural. Did it hurt to get tattooed in that area? I have 2 tattoos and couldn't image getting one on my face. Shock

Thanks Appletini! I was scared silly because of some of the tattooed brows I've seen walking around... But this is gonna save me a lot of time (and frustration) in the AM and give me more confidence without makeup, so I'm ecstatic I found a good artist to work with.

I shall have an appletini tonight in your honor. Smile

Yes, it did hurt. BTW - I got my lips done at the same time and THAT hurt like a @#$%. I'll post pics of them after more healing time, but they look great as well.

First she applied a topical anesthetic and then used a hand tool that felt as if she were plucking 3 or 4 brows at once all across the lid. Then she put on another anesthetic and then it was better - painful but tolerable.

She used all hand tools on the brows to make it look like hair strokes very up close - but because she used all hand tools it took a lot longer than a machine. I asked her if anyone had ever backed out halfway and she said 'no, because as soon as you think you can't take it anymore, the 2nd anesthetic kicks in and it's much better.'

I'd agree with that. But now I can hardly remember the pain, because I like the results. Smile

Pinky1, That's quite a compliment... I have to tell you - the eyeliner (and now brows!) was one of the smartest things I've ever done. Good luck to you! I think the artist is key here. In the pic below, I'm just wearing mascara. My eyelids have darkened a bit from my Jan Marini, but I like the effect.

Also, do not be alarmed if you leave the salon looking like a drag queen on her way to clown school - things settle in, lighten, and thin up. I was a *little* worried despite the ample warnings, but it turns out fine.

Diana P, I will most definitely post my lips, but I'm probably not the best example of lip enhancement, as my lips are very full (too full) already and my goal with my lips was just to even out some upper edge discoloration and fix an old scar from a mean cat.

I really have to say its so convenient to have tattooed eyebrow and eyeliner! I have got it down like 10 years ago when I was still in college in Asia. I think its popular in Asia!!

Its so convenient that I don't have to worry about scaring my husband w/o eyebrow and go swimming!!! (Basically, my eyebrow color is too light)

Thank you so much, DayDreamingDA! The pain level for the brows was not nearing as bad as the eyeliner (when done exclusively by hand) or lips. Also, thanks for the compliment on my lashes. I bought both the new JM and the Revitalash and for a while(6 weeks-ish) I was doing one on one eye, and one on the other. The RL side seemed to have denser, thicker lashes and the JM side was longer. Since my picture taking skills are lacking, I could never get good photographic evidence and I didn't tell my hubby because I could already see the eyes rolling. Anyhoo, after about 6 weeks, I switched both eyes to the original JM and it's been about 2-3 months. I love it, but I will say the results are less impressive without mascara. For some reason, I thought I could be able to go without - but alas, nooo.

If you do decide to do your eyebrows, I can't stress the importance of a good artist enough. I would have traveled to have this woman do my micro pigmentation. She's pricey and worth every penny IMO.

I can imagine how painful it could be for the eyelines... so close to the eyeballs.... so sensitive!!!!!

i really wish to have my lips done though.... since i've pale lips and look like i am "sick" when i dun have lipsticks on!! Sad

but dun think i can bare the pain.... at least not until i find a trustworthy technician to do it!!!!

just curious, after you are done with ur lips, can u still wear different lipsticks??

Hi DayDreamingDA,

You'd never believe it, the artist, Julie, who did my lips had hers done as well. I SWEAR you'd NEVER be able to tell...like NEVER EVER. I think some women get a strange color tattooed on, but the trend nowadays is for a very natural look - your own coloring punched up a hair...so any and all lipsticks look great - you just look better naturally without lipstick... and if you have thin lips and get your lips to be made to look bigger, it probably look better with lipstick as well.

There's a 21 day healing cycle for the lips and right now, even though my lips are slightly dry - you'd never know I have had anything done. The color is supposed to 'bloom' back after it fades out a bit, so my results aren't final yet. Anyway my discoloration (sun damage + small broken capillaries) is already improved (gone?) and my scar looks so much better. My lips are 'prominent' so I just wanted to try and look my best - especially since I'm lazy and don't re-apply lipstick after leaving the house.

Before I post mine in a couple of weeks, check the pictures on the Michaud Cosmetix website - she's super talented and you'll see what I mean about the lips, etc. being just 'better' and not noticeably 'tattooed' or permanent looking.

I'll be *very* curious to hear about your progress with LL! Please PM or email or post here when you are ready to reveal your results. Do you see any difference so far?

I would've loved to have tried it, but it wasn't out yet when I first became lash obsessed. I'm loving my long lashes because I feel that it dramatically and yet subtley (yes, both!) improves my looks.

Wow, your results really do look fantastic! Years ago I was very knee-jerk against the idea of permanent makeup, but now that I'm hearing from members who have it, I'm starting to warm up to the concept. It really helps to hear real live people's results, and not just some anonymous customer testimonial - thanks for posting pics, too. Looking forward to seeing your lip pics, and I'll check out the artists's site like you mentioned. I think lips are what I'd be most likely to do.

GinnieLiz, I know exactly what you mean - the whole idea has a bad stigma because whenever you can recognize it on people, it's because it's bad. If you can't recognize it, it's excellent - but then how would you know?

I never thought I'd get my brows done, but it's been about 1.5 years since I had my eyeliner done and I was so pleased that it cut out a good 5-7 minutes of getting ready and I'd noticed that I looked so much better if I forgot to remove my brow powder at night and looked in the mirror in the morning with nicely blended, good brows.

Anyway, as I get older I'm into 'smart shortcuts' because I don't always have as much time to create the artistic masterpiece (ha!) before I go out. If it looks like natural beauty but isn't, I'm all over it.

hi juliac,

i do truly believe in Carekate's products and she has sent me a lot of samples along with the LL and these have been great!! i have been using LL religiously for a mth now and am still waiting patiently for gd results.... so far, i think my lashes have grown only 1mm longer (from 8mm to 9mm).... not too significant.

while i do believe in Carrie, i dunno if i should use JM/RL to "kick start" my lash growth first, as many users (even carrie herself) did! also, apart from lash length, i've been hearing that by using RL/JM, each follicle can have 2-3 lashes... for me, scarcity of lashes is a problem an i dunno if LL could do that too... Rolling Eyes
