Recently I have been using and enjoying two delicious chocolate body scrubs, so I thought I would write a review comparing them so people will know what the difference is and will be better able to figure out which is the best match for them.
I'll start out with the Dark Chocolate Cocoa Bean Shea Sugar Scrub from Shea Terra Organics. This scrub comes in a 6 oz jar for $14. The texture is VERY thick/stiff, and it rinses clean with no residue. The scent is absolutely mouth-watering--- like luscious brownie batter. Overall I love this scrub and consider it to be a total staple. I love that it doesn't leave any kind of residue, however, during the cold, dry, winter some people might find that it's not quite moisturizing enough. (I remedy that by following it up with Shea Terra Organic's Vanilla Shea Oil spray--- the vanilla cookie scent is a perfect match with the yummy scent of the chocolate scrub.) The ingredients are:
organic sugar, chocolate liquor, spring water, shea butter, vegetable emulsifying wax, cocoa nibs, vanilla extract, phenoxyethanol, capryl glycol
As far as I know, Shea Terra Organics products are only available atwww.sheaterraorganics.com andwww.chocolatelotus.com .
Next up, 100% Pure's Organic Chocolate Mocha Body Scrub. This scrub comes in a 13 oz jar for $22, making it slightly more economical than the Shea Terra scrub. The texture is surprisingly runny, and I almost wish that it came in a squeeze bottle rather than a jar. The scrub itself is not greasy, however, it it leaves skin pleasantly soft and glowing. It seems slightly more moisturizing than the Shea Terra scrub, so if you have been fighting dry, flakey skin, this is the scrub for you. (However, in Shea Terra's defence, after 3 nights of using the chocolate scrub on my heels and then following it with their chocolate body butter and cotton socks, my rough, cracked heels were totally healed and very soft.) The scent is a VERY strong espresso scent with a hint of dark chocolate. If you do not like coffee I would NOT recommend getting this scrub, however, if you are a coffee lover like me then you are in for a treat because this scrub smells very dark and rich. One nice bonus with this scrub is that it is literally PACKED with skin-firming coffee. I used it all over for a few days before I was going to have my picture taken in a bikini, and it made my skin look AWESOME. The ingredients are:
Dark Belgian Chocolate, Organic Hawaiian Kona Coffee Beans, Organic Grapeseed Oil, Vitamin E (a-tocopherol), Vitamin C (calcium ascorbate), Organic Blackcurrant Oil, Extracts of Pure Bourbon Madagascar Vanilla Beans, Oregano, Thyme, Rosemary, Grapefruit Seed, Golden Seal and Cinnamon
100% Pure products can be purchased atwww.100percentpure.com ,www.chocolatelotus.com ,www.qvc.com , as well as at Bath and Body Works flagship stores.
The verdict? Both of these sweet scrubs are staples, but for totally different reasons. Just consider yourselves warned--- they are also highly addictive!^-^ |

Bella Lucce's Peruvian Chocolate Sugar Scrub is also a WONDERFUL Chocolate scrub - it is very similar to the Shea Terra one manslayerliz describes and the smell is to DIE for. My brother asked me if it's edible! They also have a matching body lotion from the same line and a chocolate powder mask (for face) which is worth a look as well.
For coffee scrubs I really like the one from Juara because you can use it as a cleanser + scrub in one! |

I found that mmucosmetics.com makes some lovely chocolate-scented scrubs as well. Still, I only order when the shipping is free or low, because it can be a lot otherwise.
I am curious for the Bella Luce products...so I might order that one soon. |
