Sorry for asking such a basic question, but why is it that some skincare products carry a Drug Facts label while others don't? Does this label indicate that the company paid for the FDA blessing? [an expensive undertaking, from what I understand]
I have 4 different bottles of sun protection creams, lotions and potions. Only one, the PSF SPF50, has a Drug Facts label on it.
When I was strictly using the Murad line, the acne treatment gel had a drug facts label, but the clarifying toner and cleanser didn't.
Thanks in advance for satifying my everlastin' curiosity!

I have no idea what it means either but the SkinCeuticals Daily Sun Defense SPF 20 also has a Drug Facts label... Under Active Ingredients it lists:
Octinoxate [encapsulated] 5%
Zinc Oxide [Z-Cote HP1®] 5% |

FDA requires, since 2002, the usage of a Drug Facts Label for any product containing a "drug", so to speak. It was designed to make it easier for consumers to determine which OTC was appropriate for their symptoms, etc.
So, I assume that the products contain an ingredient that the FDA considers an OTC and, therefore, must contain the label. |
