I am so surprised at my self but I can not stand to see any sign of aging on my face. I want to decrease or get rid of my nasolabial folds and the 11 line. I have already spent lots of money on serums and creams and my skin does not have very many wrinkles but I do have loss of elasticity and sagging. So, ladies I want Restylane but I have read some horror stories. I have made a appointment with a reputable female plastic surgeon for consultation.
I am interested in finding out how painful is this!
Which should I ask for numbing cream or shots
What can I do to limit bruising and swelling.
Please give me any tips to make the experience better. I am very scared! Thanks |

HI Samuel
I have had many rounds of restalyn and rest assured you will be happy! As for the pain I have had actually had it done without any numbing cream and it was bearable, it is over very quick, just a bit of stinging (thats with no numbing cream) I have had my nasolabials done I think three times in maybe 5 years and don't even need them done again any time soon. I was very happy with the results, also had my scowl line done and it also is still looking fine and its literally been years HTH ![Very Happy](images/smiles/biggrin.gif) |

How is this compared to Juvederm? Also, is it supposed to be rather permanent? |

Hello,
I have had this done about 6 weeks ago and it is nothing to be scared about. It should last about 2 years and I did bruise but I don't think you can do anything about it. The procedure didn't hurt very much at all but it is scarey having someone put needles in your face. I am glad I got it done as my folds made me look like I was sad and frowning all the time. Getting your lips done hurts though! Juvederm is on its way out as newer, longer lasting and softer products are being developed such as Teocyll. |

If you want inject fillers into the upper part of the face where skin is thin, make sure you ask your doctor if you can expect any lasting lumpiness under your skin as a result of the process. |

These are injectable fillers which are a hard plastic. You can feel it with your fingers but it doesn't look or feel lumpy. Feels firm and smooth. It has to be like this if it is going to push out the folds in your face. |

Personally I can't compare to Juvaderm because I havn't had it, but I have had the artecoll as well. Its a permanent filler, I think it may only be available in Canada at this point? |

Samuel - i've had restalyne - I suggest taking an ice pack and putting it on directly after the procedure - I've had restalyne two times - the first time w/out ice pack - big bruises lasting five days. Second time w ice pack - tiny bruises - barely noticeable and gone in about three days. Ice helps.
Also Andreana - What did you think of the Artecoll and where did you use it? |

I agree with sister sweets, the ice right afterwards really helps if you bruise easily.
sister sweets I had the artecoll done to fill in scars, the problem with it is if it doesnt settle the way you want it to it can last upto 10 years. I have a scar on my cheek and almost 7 years later can still feel the artecoll in my cheek , it did not settle the way I wanted, its also about double (or more) in terms of cost |

I've had perlane shots a couple of times and no bruising but some swelling that went down in about a week. They applied a topical lidocaine product first and an ice pack and i do suggest an ice pack after. I you do get bruising afterwards arnica gel or cream is the best for healing. |

OMG thank you so much for the input! These comments have really helped me! I will make sure that I put on a ice pack after the procedure. They have also told me to take Bromilin (not sure about the spelling) for bruising and stop taking any aspirin. Also, can you tell me how much you guys paid for the treatment. I do not have a sure price for mine because I have not been examined yet. Thanks |

Thanks for the prices! You guys have been so helpful. I talked to the nurse today and she told me that it is $475/syringe. Ladies did filling the nasolabial folds help with the tiny lines above the lips. I do not have very many but I can see them forming due to loss in elasticity. |

Had both Juvaderm & several syringes of resty. My biggest problem is bruising, the swelling goes down pretty quick. It usually runs around 400.00 per syringe and the juvaderm was smoother and lasted longer, but isn't used for lips. The resty is lumpier to me. I always use numbing cream but I am a baby when it comes to those needles! ![Laughing](images/smiles/lol.gif) |

I am thinking of restalyne or other filler too. Here is a question- Would it help to have a botox shot after, to help it stop recreasing? |

Hi, everyone I finally went today for a consultation and I got them to do Restylane in my nasolabial folds and the 11 line.
They took pics for the doctor to evaluate prior to the consultation. The doc (she) was very nice and she said that most people require around 2 syringes full to see a dramatic effect. I opted for 1 syringe only because that is all I could afford at $475.00. She put a numbing cream twice then she administered numbing shots (not a dental block) in the area. I was pain free and so thankful she had given me the pin prick shots. No cream (CP's, emu oil, HA serum), serums or oils have had the effect of Restylane. Wow!Wow!Wow! Instantly at least 8 yrs. were taken off of my age. It is not perfect and I am sore but it was worth the price. I had no bruising because I was advised to take Bromelin found at GNC. The swelling was minimal because of ice packs. I went shopping afterwards and no one could look at me and tell that I have had a procedure done to my face. I will go back at some point for touch up. So far it has been positive. I just hope that it will last a while! |

How fantastic!
I have been doing more research. Another filler that sounds good is Perlane - unless it is just another name for the same thing.
I intend to have one or the other done in a month or two and will share the experience. ![Rolling Eyes](images/smiles/rolleyes.gif) |

Ive had both and juva lumped on me and also moved..
Restylane didn't knot up or move..
I was told if it startes to lump, you have about 3 days to massage it down. but I would ask your DR. about that.
I'm in my 40's so instead of having my lips filled, I asked just for the lip line. so I wouldn't look like I had fish lips..most ppl couldn't even tell I had anything done, it looked very natural ( like they did when I was younger) and I was very happy with the results.. |

I had one spot where it was kind of lumpy and the doc had told me to message it and it worked. I am on day 3 and very slight bruising is there and the look is very natural. No one including my husband who is very perceptive has noticed anything. I think getting just one syringe was the right thing to do eventhough I needed 2 syringe; which would have given me a much younger look. I will get the 2nd treatment in couple of months. This way my looks will change gradually. |

My friend had a Restylane done under her eyes 4 months ago. After the treatment, she did had a bruise, but then it was all fine. She is very happy with the result. Nothing to worry about. The result may vary for every individual. If you still experience any lumps under your skin, you can always consult the doctor. |

Arnica and bromelain are always a big help for me. I have never regretted the fillers and I only have it now about once every 2 years, it lasts nicely. I also only get 1 syringe so it is subtle. |
