This is one of the best things I've done for myself lately. I had gone into the office asking about Restylane or whatever filler for those pesky ULL, but my Dr suggested Botox instead. I'm sure glad I did it too. Yeah it hurt like h@ll!!! but it made my ULL go away and even gave me a nice little pout. No fillers needed now. It does kinda feel different, like I really couldn't drink thru a straw if I wanted to, but nothing I can't live with.
Moral of this story: If you don't want to end up paying good $$ for needles in your lips, stop smoking NOW! Wish I had sooner. |

fawnie-
I'm so glad to hear about your experience and that it is working well. I JUST had this done yesterday so the full effect hasn't occurred yet but I did notice how it pulled my upper lip up right away. I started developing these lovely lines in high school-I remember having to wear this outrageous red lipstick every time I performed with the drill team and it always ran up into the lines. I'm 43 now and have one that resembles a cut and they bug the crud out of me. I had resty put in them last week and my PS did the botox yesterday. Hoping it helps. BTW not a smoker. |

I wonder why he suggested Botox, did he say as I thought that Restylene lasts longer. Do you know how long the Botox will last? Great that you see the result so quickly |

That is wonderful!
I never heard anyone using it around their mouth and I can't help wonder, is it possible that you could drool while you are sleeping?
Normally I make the effort not to drink from a straw because in help promote wrinkles around your mouth.
How many units did you have to use? |

I don't know about Fawnie-but my PS suggested botox prior to my resty filler. He said it would really help relax the lip lines since I tend to purse my lips during stress. (is PURSE the right way to spell that BTW?)
Botox lasted me 5 months last time.
He gave me 2.5-3 units on each side of my cupids bow-1/2 a syringe.

Lola - just like SoccerMom said, once the lines are relaxed, the fillers aren't usually necessary. Botox is certainly less invasive (and less $$) than Restylane.
I noticed the improvement the same day.
My Dr claims it should last 3-4 mo, but to come back for more when I notice more movement in the area. She said the lip area is an area that is used more, so the effect might wear off sooner than the crowsfeet area. So the less I flap my lips the better!!
SoccerMom - how's it going for you? Did it live up to your expectations?
I had mine done at a "MedSpa" that uses only Allergan products, the mfr of Botox and Juvederm.
I'm still very happy with the results, altho my DH still hasn't noticed anything and I haven't owned up to it yet! |
