Help! I just saw this brown spot this morning. It came out of nowhere. I'm sure it's a sunspot since I don't wear sunscreen on my lips. I have a lip allergy, and I can't wear lip balm that has beeswax in it. The lip balm with SPF I know of all has beeswax in it. Currently I'm using the Lips2Kiss system, and it doesn't come with sunscreen either.
Does anyone have a solution to this dilemma?

I talked to Kandis expressing a concern that I wanted to wear sunscreen on my lips has I have done daily before starting the Lips2Kiss system. She recommended sunscreen crean for babies. She told me to put it on in the mornings before my system. She mentioned the sunscreen for babies as it doens't contain a lot of waxes. So far I like it. I can't remember the brand but it's a white bottle with a pink label. I'll have to look tonight when I get home. Good Luck. |

I don't know how sensitive your skin is. I had the same problem and did this...
I would start by doing a physical scrub exfoliation. Maybe KIAJ or Baking Soda mixed with Cetaphil. Do this at least three times a day.
Then on daily basis, use vitamin C (am). Also use a lightening product (pm). Skinceuticals (which I used) and other lines (Obagi) have this stuff. Some sold on EDS.
One to two times a week I used Sonya Dakar Green Tea mask to keep my skin calm.
Then that brown spot will get dry and maybe even crusty. Keep exfoliating and then it will get red or pink and you keep up with your routine and after four or five months, it should be completely gone unless it is a dark shade of brown.
If you want to speed it up, I'd get IPL facials and a Micro's or just go see your dermatologist.
I put sunblock on my upper lip but not on my lips.
I really hope that I helped you out. |

Thank you, Racecargirl, and skincare. I will have to start using SS on my lips, too, now. I will try a small spot test to see if I have any allergic reaction or not. |

I had one of those a few years back - I hadn't done anything about it, and then my dentist saw it and wanted me to have it removed asap. He said those spots can sometimes be pre-cancerous. I ended up at my dermatologist who removed it immediately with liquid nitrogen....I was not too happy with that procedure - painful and left me with a big sore spot to contend with, but then it was gone.

uchie! That sounds painful. A sore spot on the lip is just what I need, NOT! LOL Holy moly, I sure hope I can get rid of it some other way. Maybe I will need to have a doctor look at it. |

I went to the doctor for 3 spots that seemed to appear overnight between my chin and cheek. Not the same type of Skin as lips but probably same issue.
He said they are not cancerous. They did freeze one off my stomach and a few off my hand, but he doesn't like to freeze them on the face if not necessary. He said they are called solar lentigoes. The doctor said that a lot of people treat these with hydroquinone, and that there are many variations ranging from 1-4% (4%=Rx strength). He also said that Solage is the only one FDA approved to treat Solar Lentingoes. It wasn't cheap. $140 for the 30ml bottle, but it comes with a little lip gloss type applicator so it's easy to put just on the spot without getting med on the surrounding skin. With the focused spot applicator, i suspect this bottle will last several months. I've only been using it for 4 days so far, but I'll let you know how it goes.

Hope this helps. |
