I spend LOT,LOT of money at expensive products( La Prairie, Kanebo , Guerlain, etc.) on my face but I am not satisfied. I am 50 now and I think that I have to go to plastic surgery. If someone knows creams or serums that works on seventh layers of the skin or something else, please help me . |

Oh yes Vanya there is a product line that will work for you. I don't know if this line will go down 7 layers but definitely looks my wrinkles look pretty good! (Actually I don't know of any product that goes down 7 layers!)
Elizabeth Grant am/pm serums. These will plump up your skin with hydration 24 hrs a day. All you need to add is your own moisturizer (or hers)over the serums and you're good for the day. |

Vanya, check out Janson Beckett. Their Facial Skin Prep and Alphaderma CE give amazing results on mature skin. There's lots of threads here on EDS about their products + you can buy a trial pack from EDS
Here's a link to their website: http://www.janson-beckett.com/default.asp |

Vanya, I just wonder how long you tried some of the products for. There are some good products which will make a difference but you would need to use them for 12 months to see benefits. What skin type are you, dry, oily, mixed etc? |

I don't think those expensive products you mentioned actually work. At your age, plastic surgery is not a bad option at all.
Ageing is difficult to reverse. The best way is prevention before it happens badly. |

Like you I too have lots of money on creams but I find creme de la mer good at night too rich for day and I use prevage by Elizbeth Arden under my moisturiser I also drink green tea a few times a day and plenty of water. I do not have many wrinkles and I am over fifty but using good creams does make skin soft and lines will appear softer. If you can afford surgery then why not especially fillers etc |

Hi there. I just had my 48th birthday !
And I'm turning to facial excercise more and more for anti aging. They do something skincare cant do, they lift and tone.
I love cp's for skin thickening and pore reduction.
And the clarisonic brush for radiant skin.
There is great thread here about facial excercise and includes info about the facial flex device which tones up the jawline really well. |

Vanya:
Your problem is not nearly as serious as you think; there's lots of hope for you.
1. Start by checking out the peels & products at some med/spas that have quality peel products - get your skin analyzed & sign up for a pkg of skin peels to remove all the junk that has accumulated on your skin surface so that what you have left is worth treating. Don't be suckered into buying a whole bunch of products with the peels until you've educated yourself a bit about ingredients. Look for plant based, natural acid products, natural moisturizers like Hyaluronic acid, squalane or emu oil. When your skin looks better after these peels, you will probably feel more confident about taking care of it with quality products
2. then take a serious look atwww.SkinBiology.com which specializes in Copper Peptides (CPs)skin products. There is a ton of information but spend a little time looking at the mature skin recommendations to educate yourself a bit. Then, if you want more personal guidance, look atwww.NCNproskincare.com who also specializes in CPs. The products carried on these sites & some others are not loaded with all the pore clogging stuff in so many commercial skincare lines & which cost you lotsa $ just to do that! email/call Nanci at NCN & she will help you start off your program.
3. You might also consider buying a quality VitC product at say 10% to start. The Vivier product @ EDS is v. good. It provides anti-oxidant properties, moisture & will assist in repairing, brightening & protecting your skin.
4. Seriously consider buying a DPL unit from NCN - she has them on sale. Lotsa info on the web about it too. Whatever skincare routine you eventually decide upon, this LED light unit, used for only 18 min daily, will greatly improve the quality of your skin - brighter, thicker epidermis, clearer, smaller pores, etc, etc. Anyone who has one, loves it.
5. To assist in your skin repair, you may need regular professional microdermabrasion or peel treatments. These provide deeper exfoliation which is absolutely key at your age to restore your skin to
a healthy, glowing condition so that your products have a chance of doing their job.
6. Don't expect miracles right away. It takes neglected skin cells time to 'wake up' & recycle new ones to the surface (at least 28 days). And a disciplined routine is essential for your skin to continue repairing and renewing itself. Once you start seeing results, you will wonder why you waited so long.
All this might sound a tad xpensive, but you will see results for your money.
All the best |

I dont think that dept store brands are really the way to g. I have had much better results with brands on EDS(spa brands and brands the dermatologist would recommend etc)....check the forum here to get ideas before starting to pay too much...of course you will ...its inevitable ...I too think peels are the way to go!!!!! you cant expect a cream to do everything...its peels really good products sunscreen and most definitely diet! |

I should add that I do think some dept store products can be really good like masks and cleansers (clarins for eg) etc but not creams. |

Ditto everything Arya said...plus a face lift. I am very pro-plastic surgery. Once you get that done, all the other products/devices will maintain it....but at this stage of the game, the results you will get from all the products may not quite be enough. I think they make a more profound difference when used earlier on, but by the age of 50, some of us need a bit more help.... I speak from experience....my humble 2 cents. |

A facial excercise DVD is probably within your budget. |

You are not alone
Before surgery, I am now looking into dermal fillers like restyline, perlane etc. They are cheaper, and may be quite effective. |

VANYA, I do not assume that many of you were aware of the importance of sun protection (esp. protectiong your skin from UVA rays, which is the major cause of wrinkles) when you were young. And I believe many of the skincare methods/products popular in the past are actually not good for the skin.
Even if you have had surgery, you still need to maintain the result. Wearing a sunscreen with good UVA protection definitely should be part of your maintaining routine. |

I totally agree with the facial exercise! I've been doing them off & on for about 8 years. The one I'm most impressed with is Flex Effect. (usual before & afters for the website). I've also been a skincare junkie, but it's also important to build up the facial muscles to keep them firm. A major benefit is increased circulation which allows for better moisture retention and suppleness. It's never to late to reap the benefits of facial exercise!! I also swear by tretonion (generic Retin-A or Renova)and sunblock.
Good Luck! |

I've read a lot of comments that La Prairie doesn't do anything but moisturize.
Are you also taking Omega oil? That help make your skin look like it is glowing.
I don't have advice for sagging skin...I'm still trying to figure that one out. |

Vanya, don't give up! The Kate Somerville reviews sound very promising. Decleor also sounds great for a more "natural" product. I have been reading alot about skin products and whether or not they are actually "anti-aging" (to justify the amount of money I spend on products!!!) - most of the reviews are positive. Even after plastic surgery, the most important thing is to wear a good sunscreen, avoid being dehydrated - drink loads of water and use a good moisturizer and eye cream. As with most things, it is trial on error as to what products "do it" for you - sometimes going to day spas for facials are good in that the beauty therapist can diagnose you, treat you as well as recommend products - you usually come away with decent samples. You might also be pleasantly surprised that your skin isn't as bad as you thought and just needs a little boost! Facial massages are very nice as well. |
