I've just started using PSF's Vitamin C Serum 15%. I use it in the A.M. only , as I wanted to start slowly. I find it very sticky and after I apply I look like I'm wearing one of those creepy plastic Halloween masks! I'm sure if I entered a bank they'd think it was a robbery. Is it normal for the serum to go on like plastigoop? I'm afraid to apply it at night. I could end up sticking to the pillowcase and ultimately suffocate myself! Is it just for spot treatments? |

I use the exact same vitamin c serum and don't find it sticky at all. I put 2 or 3 drops in the palm of my hand, then spread evenly over my face and neck. I use it only in the a.m. as I use retin-a at night. I quite like it and am seeing some results. |

I have not used this product but it sounds like it is not able to absorb into your skin. That may be because of some other product you have used underneath preventing absorption or your skin cannot cope with one or more ingredients in this product. Perhaps you could try it one night at a time that would give it some time to absorb but if it hasn't absorbed after an hour than perhaps you should be looking for another product. |

I forgot to mention. A bottle of Ferulic Acid came with the C Serum. I mixed it in. Could this be making it sticky? I first tried it without the ferulic and it went on better. I tried again last night and now zits are forming. I guess it's not for me. I think Bushy's thoughts that it isn't absorbing could be the thing. Thanks |

I've heard exactly that - I didn't mix mine in - maybe that's the culprit. |

Some Vita. C serum is oil based and some water based - if you want a very light version sans preservatives, you can always try HABA's Fair Lady. It's totally nonsticky.
The absolute worst one I have ever tried was Avon's. It's like putting cooking oil on your face! (Avon was from my struggling student days...) |

PSF's is oil free, so it's probably the E booster that is causing problems. |

Vitamin C serums seem to vary dramatically in their stickiness or lack of stickiness. The old PSF formulation (glycerin based) was even tackier--I couldn't put on mineral makeup within an hour of using it or it would get all cakey. The newer formula is better, but still gives a residual stickiness. I've used two other C serums whose consistency I prefer: Vivier (but so expensive!) and Cellularskin-rx (much, much cheaper). Both have more "slip" than "stickiness" to the touch. Neither is actually formulated with oil, by the way.
Seems with Vitamin C the issues are, how long does it remain stable and how well does it sink into the skin? Both Vivier and Cellularskin-rx gets high marks from me in both departments. |

I have never tried PSF's c serum but have never had problems with stickiness with Skinceuticals or Cellular SkinRx's. i think the latter is especially a very cosmetically elegant formula. |

Is that the C+Firming serum? Do you, by any chance, know the pH? The price sure seems to be right - thanks! |

It's between 3 and 3.5. I've been faithful to this one for about three years now I think. Cannot live without now. No stickiness at all. Soaks right in and no water in the formula so it is stable. And, you're right - it's much less expensive than the other good C products. |

For those who fear sticky vit. C serums, I highly recommend the SkinMedica one which contains both Vit. C and E. It is in an anhydrous cream base and has a smooth, totally non-sticky finish. There are no stability issues with this product either, as it is not water-based. Although there are some silicones in it, the amount you apply to your face is very small, so it shouldn't be a major issue. |

Hi! Yes, it is the C + Firming serum. The price i agree, is very nice for a C serum.

I've got a bottle of Ferulic Acid with PSF C serum as well. So I shouldn't mix them together? Then what should I do with the Ferulic Acid? Can we mix it with something else? |

It says with the Ferulic bottle you can mix it with cream of your choice or serum. Do not use directly on skin. I would test a little mixed with the C serum to see if it suits your skin. I went ahead and dumped the whole thing in before trying it. |

Wow, doohicus! That is so unusual to hear. If it helps, I have been using the PSF "C" for a longggg time now. Been through several bottles infact. It's one of my favorite products because of the way it makes my skin feel and how it brightens. Never had any issues at all with sticky and I HATE sticky! LOL! Seriously though, maybe it is something else you are using with/before it like some of the others have said? Let us know what happense when you try it by itself. I would hate to see you miss out on such a great product if it's something else. The plastic mask you are describing just sounds so odd, I agree with bushy in that maybe something under isn't allowing it to absorb and you obviously want it to absorb to get the benefits. Good luck and keep us updated!

I haven't tried PSF's Vitamin C Serum. I'm currently using Cellular RX's and very pleased with this product esp its stability. No problem so far. I use only 3-4 drops for my face following toner and let them absorb for 5 mins or so. |

I have been using the PSF vit c for just over a month now, I don't find it goes on sticky but for me it does dry with a slight sticky finish but I find that it is solved as soon as I put on my daytime moisturizer. I bought the vit c to help with redness issues, I haven't seen any decrease in the redness or any other huge change. I do feel that the vit c helps overall with brightening my complexion and for $50 it is relatively inexpensive, I would purchase this product again. |

Try emailing PSF and see what they have to say. In the past I used their C Serum and quite liked it. It sounds like your mixing it could be the problem. PSF is nice to deal with. I am sure they will help you. |

For anyone who has used both PSF's and CellularSkinRx's: how do you feel the results compare? So far, I like PSF's. It's my first forage into the Vitamin C world, so I'm a real novice. |

Anyone else like me who just can't used Vitamin C serum? I haven't tried them all, as I can't afford to try every single line, but so far Cellex C, PSF, and Vivier have not agreed with me. I've basically just given up on Vitamin C for my skin, and ensure that I take enough internally. I probably could be missing a wonderful product that would be perfect, but all the testing is causing havoc on my skin! |
