I know there are natural ingredients like lemon juice or coffee you can use to subtly alter your hair color. I was wondering if there is anything that would tone down red tones in the hair and make it more cool toned.

My hair is light brown. It used to be blond as a child and then got a little darker and darker, dirty blond and now it's a blondish light honey brown. When I was a teenager it was more ash and I got great results from Sun-in - a beautiful light golden blond color. I think now it would be orangish if I did that. The natural highlights it picks up from the sun brings out a lot of brassy/reddish cast to it though. I don't want to dye it all over, I just want to tone that down.

Hi!

I have naturally black hair, but I bleach it. When it's bleached, it's very brassy. I use purple conditioner to get a silvery, platinum, ash tone. My favorites are Wella Blue Malva and Shimmer Lights. The purple pigment neutralizes the red tones.

There's also a product called UnRed that you can get in Sally's. You can mix it with your shampoo or conditioner, and it takes out red/brassy tones.

Hope this helps! Very Happy

Byrd- Thanks for asking this question.
I have been watching this to see if there was something good also.
I have used the Shimmer Lights Shampoo and now want to try the UnRed from Sallys. Thanks Rde Devil for the good tip.
