i need ideas on how to reverse this, if possible. meanwhile, i'm going to call my derm but it takes about 5 or 6 months to get in to see him usually.
i used Blistex Complete Moisture starting about 3 days ago. it seemed to soothe my very chapped lips instantly, but over a day or two started to sting. i didn't pay attention to this, as they still stung when i used my usual Herbal Answer balm. so i assumed they were just so chapped that everything was stinging. now i think i was reacting to something in the balm, since i just noticed my lips are horribly lined. like vertical *and* deep horizontal lines. (i reacted to a product years ago that wrinkled up my lips but i got steroid creams and with time they smoothed out pretty well too.)
does anyone know about this sort of thing? i actually don't have any idea what i may have reacted to (again, maybe my lips are just severely chapped from running the electric heater, along with winter here). here are the ingredients for the Blistex Complete Moisture:
Active Ingredients: Dimethicone (2.0% Skin Protectant), Octyl Methoxycinnamate (7.5% Sunscreen), Oxybenzone (2.5% Sunscreen)
Inactive Ingredients: Behenoyl Stearic Acid, Butylparaben, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Cholesteryl/Behenyl/Octyldodecyl Lauroyl Glutamate, Dioctyl Adipate, Ethylparaben, Flavor, Glycerin, Jojoba Esters, Lecithin, Methylparaben, Microcrystalline Wax, Octylpalmitate, Octyl Stearate, Ozokerite, Panthenol, Petrolatum, Propylparaben, Water (Purified), Sodium Borate, Sodium Saccharin, Squalane
[and these are the ingredients for the Blistex Herbal Answer, which i usually use:
Active Ingredients: Octinoxate (7.5%) (Sunscreen), Petrolatum (43%) (Skin Protectant), Oxybenzone (2.5%) (Sunscreen)
Inactive Ingredients: Aloe Barbadensis Leaf Extract, Bees Wax, Butyrospermum Parkii (Shea Butter) Fruit, Cetyl Alcohol, Chamomilla Recutita (Matricaria) Flower Extract, Flavor, Helianthus Annuus (Sunflower) Seed Oil, Isopropyl Lanolate, Lanolin, Methylparaben, Microcrystalline Wax, Ozokerite, Paraffin, Persea Gratissima (Avocado) Oil, Phenyl Trimethicone, Propylparaben, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil]
maybe the new thing just has too many synthetic chemicals my lips don't like? i welcome any suggestions on how to soften the lines before they become any more permanent.
also, there is a tiny chance that yesterday and today the ACV/water/oregano oil mixture i gargled with, or the ACV/water mixture i drank, dried my lips out. i rinsed my lips after using the stuff, though, but some of it did touch.
