I am all about saving some money when it comes to my nails and at-home manicures, so I was quite pleased when I came across this website that offered a free step-by-step video demonstration of how to give yourself a French Manicure. There are several great tips about removing your cuticles as well as applying a natural white nail tip that is typical of French Manicures. I would rate this video 5/5 as I found it very helpful and informative. In fact the entire website is filled with lots of great step-by-step beauty videos, so search through the 'beauty' section there if you are looking for other tips about applying make-up, false eyelashes, etc.

Thanks ScotsLass. I love French manicures but they never last on my hands sadly. I liked the video but am skeptical whether it would also work using your non-dominant hand. I am not very bidextrous (sp?) and my right hand always looks like it;s been done by my left hand when I apply regular polish. Laughing

Hey Agent! I used to find that my french manicure's were short-lived as well until I started to apply a layer of top coat every 2-3 days. I find this has extended the life of my manicures a lot! You just need to get into the habit of applying it early on and not when the polish has begun to chip.

As for applying the polish yourself and having it look lovely on both hands, well, this takes some practice and patience, to be sure.Wink You can't rush the process (or drink anything caffeinated before you begin - LOL!). I have begun to use my non-dominant hand first when I give myself a manicure and for some reason my nails look so much better. I'm not certain if it's the extra concentration or what, but I find I can polish my nails with minimal mistakes by starting with my weak hand. The trick of taking some cotton (off a q-tip) and wrapping it around a toothpick (my modification), then dabbing it into some remover to carefully wipe away excess polish from the skin around your nails is VERY helpful as well.

The trick of cutting a diamond shape into a piece of cardboard to minimize mistakes when you apply the white tip is also quite helpful (especially when you are applying polish with your non-dominant hand!). Give the entire french manicure technique a try...you might be as surprised as myself with the nice results!

You're welcome, Natz87. I think one of the most interesting tips I came across in the video was that I can use Olive Oil to soften or push back my cuticles if I do not have an actual cuticle remover on hand. This really appealed a lot to me because half of the time I never have a cuticle product handy when I need one! Wink

Thanks for the added tips ScotsLass.

And, I was afraid you'd say "don't rush" or "take time"!!! Laughing But what you say make a lot of sense. Thanks again.
