Hello everyone~
I just wanted to share this wonderful man's story with everybody. Dr. Randy Pausch's last lecture truly touched my heart and has given me a new light on life. Even though he is a complete stranger to me, I feel that everyone can relate to him on some level. I was able to watch his "Last Lecture" on his website, http://download.srv.cs.cmu.edu/~pausch/ If you ever have an hour or so to spare, yes I know that's asking a lot for some people, but I think it would be time well spent. Please read about this man and his courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.
I know that people on this very forum may have personally dealt with or have loved ones, friends, neighbors...who have battled with cancer themselves. It is an extremely courageous battle and I know that his story as well as others stories are so touching and I believe that everybody could learn something new about themselves and have a different outlook on life itself. I know that I have learned a lot about myself through just simply taking the time to hear his story. He has touched my heart in a way that has made me reevaluate how I want to live life. My intention is not to push my values or beliefs onto anyone on this forum.
I posted this topic because I wanted to share or shed light on this courageous man and the accomplishments he has made in his life without regrets, and I simply admire people like him. If anyone would like to share anything, please feel free to do so because I am hear to listen, take advice, whatever it may be. Thank you all for taking the time to read this. |

Thank you Gellys, for your kind thoughts and the link.
Three years ago I lost my husband to cancer but I've moved on (people on this forum helped a lot, though they may not have been aware that they did). I've learnt that ultimately we can't be too attached to possessions, our kids and significant other included. Ultimately we are on our own, and it is what good we can give others that counts. It's better to live a short but meaningful life than a long selfish one. And we can't do good to others (my children, in my case, who now need me more than ever) if we sit around and be depressed all the time (for one thing we are not attracting other good energies into our lives, for another we'll lose all that gorgeousity we've worked so hard on since EDS haha).
Seriously though. Thanks. |

Dear pumpingmummy,
Thank you for sharing your personal story, and I wish you the best in staying strong for your children and yourself. I could only imagine what a difficult journey it has been..Stories like yours are inspirational and also allows others to move forward with their lives and change the way they may view life...I know that I gain so much insight on my own life from learning from others... |
