I got a bunch of samples from the best bath store and well... my skin.. is not happy. My skin is not usually clear but it doesn't usually hurt I even tried to get an appt with my derm but since my referral was for a mole I have to get a new one from my doctor before they will see me. Here is the aftermath
(Sorry they are a little blurry and a little big)
Any ideas on what I should do? There are a bunch of cystic and a lot of little white heads. I try not to pick. I do OCM. I am about to just give up on my face. |

Holy crap! You poor thing!!! I'm not certain what to recommend for you, since I'm not sure what's happening there.
Is that an allergic reaction as in "itchy" or did the product cause you to break out?
About two weeks ago, I made a new batch of my body firming lotion and added niacimide. OMG I thought I was going to rip my skin off! I normally do not have reactive skin, but when I used this stuff, the skin on my arms and midriff looked sort of like chicken skin but the itch was maddening. The only thing that helped was colloidal oatmeal...
Gosh - I feel so bad for you. It SUCKS when you try to do something good for yourself and it works the other way. |

awww, that sucks. Take lots of B vitamins in the meantime to keep redness down and do an asprin mask and see if that helps with inflammation and healing (assuming that this is just a nasty breakout and not an allergic rash) |

Its a breakout. No itchies. I will try an asprin mask I guess. I'm just scared to irritate my face further right now. |

Hi world of mirth,
What did you end up using? It does sound like you had an allergic reaction to something for sure. Poor girl! Let us know how you're doing ok?

I used the acne serum twice a day and the dead sea scrub (only twice like in a week) and I used the pore minimizing mask once. I'm thinking its the acne serum since I used it the most but I'm not sure. I haven't changed anything else with my routine. My skin wasn't clear but it certainly wasn't like this. I was trying to figure out if there is something in the ingredients that I could be sensitive to but I have no idea. |

I wouldn't do an aspirin mask right now. I really think you should just let your skin calm down for a few days and try to weather it. Right now it looks inflamed and my fear is that an aspirin mask with exacerbate that. |

Hi,
Have you tried getting in touch with Justin from Best Bath Store?
He should have some suggestions for you, but for now, you probably know, but stop using everything. I would suggest you putting some aloe on but am afraid you will be allergic to that too!
I have used the acne serum as well as the dead sea scrub (i hope it wasn't that, i remember suggesting it ), but didn't react. but then again, i don't have very reactive skin.
i am with katee on this, no asprin mask for now.

Oh my goodness, you poor girl! How quickly did the blemishes come on? Did it happen overnight, or was it gradual? What products were you using? When I was fighting acne my skin looked like that too--- I definitely say go to the dermatologist as soon as you can get a referral. |

The blemishes came on overnight but it was about 4 days after I started used the acne serum. |

Ouch, ouch, poor skin!
If this is really cystic acne -- and if the bumps are painful to the touch, it likely is ...
and if this were happending to me )and believe me, I've had my share of bad experiences, including cystic acne in my past)...
I'd call my primary care doctor and explain the situation and see if he can't prescribe some antibiotics to bring that situation under control, pronto!
Hopefully you will be good as new soon! |

I guess I will try to call my doctor but he is old school so I don't know if he will think that the acne is a problem That is why I tried to use my old referral to the derm. |

Sorry to hear/see the products didn't work for you, the same thing has happened to me many many times before too. I had the same sort of reaction when I first used Dermalogica products. But I also recommend seeing a specialist.
Good luck! |

Oh...
You should STOP to do anything on face.
Stop to use any skin care and wash your face by water for a few week.
If you apply more skin care, maybe your skin will more irritation and will more worst.
Drink fresh water and eat fruit and vegetable.
Anyhow, you should see the doctor also.
Good luck and recover soon. |

I'd have to say it was probably a combination of the products you used. Did you experience any tingling with the dead sea scrub? I tried their pore minimizing mask ONCE and it made me SOOOO itchy and it STUNG really bad and I don't even have sensitive skin (not the slightest tingle with ISC Active so you get the idea). I'm sure the mask really aggravated your skin in some way. I agree with everyone else, stay low on your scrubs, use a gentle cleanser and toner. However I do think you should put something soothing on it to help heal - perhaps an aloe vera gel for a while before you start on any acne gel. Something gentle I would probably recommend I Feel Pretty's Healing Serum.
Also about BBS' Acne Gel it makes a protective layer on your skin so it actually has a tendency to trap oil inside to cause little bumps and whiteheads, I found I had the most bumps when I was using this 2x a day consecutively for a few weeks (I brought it on vacation with me). I now only use it when I use makeup so that I get a protective layer from dirt/pollution, so I'm thinking it's a possibility if you used the Acne Gel most. |

The healing serum will probably help with the cystic pimple. I had a couple of those and they would not go away, used the BBS but it didn't do anything until I used the IFP serum to spot treat it, than it slowly went away.
I'm so sorry that your going through this, keep us updated on how your doing. |

I agree - put nothing but clear water. And I wouldn't try ANY new skin care products til you can #1 - calm this down #2 - see your doctor & most importantly #3 try to determine which product caused this reaction.

I think I would start by looking at what new ingredients you've used. Then, someone mentioned a combination. I would definitely bring the products with you to the derm, between the 2 of you hopefully you can figure it out, quickly.

Oh, I have SO been through this before. The only silver lining is that problems like this usually clear up quickly once you discontinue the products.
Good luck! |

I'm with Katee - I wouldn't do anything right now...Let your skin try to self-adjust for a few days if you can manage it. It really does look allergic since it has an "all over" kind of look to it...it seems to extend right to the outer edges of your face...anyways, I'd leave it alone if you can and then once (and if) it cools down, put something "tried and true" on it...don't try anything new...just go back to what you know won't irritate your skin...Once it stabilizes then I'd jump back on the "what can I try next?" bandwagon!
Good luck and happy healing!
