I am considering adding a Hyaluronic Acid supplement to my regime. After doing a little research I am more confused than ever. Apparently the usual dosage is between 5-50 mg daily. The research states that little to no side effects or dangers exist from using HA supplements. It also states that HA supplements really do not provide enough direct benefits for the skin or joints to be considered a high value supplement but that they can play a valuable role as a support nutrient.
OK so is it worth taking?
How many Mg's are you taking daily?
If it is best used as a support nutrient, what does it need to be taken with?
Which is the best brand?
Those of you who have been taking it for awhile, (3-6 months) what improvements if any have you noticed?
I would appreciate any input on this - TIA |

Fairlady, I take 100 mg a day + MSM (1 gram, 2 x day). I've been taking them for over a year and the major benefit to me, is that they seem to have cured the arthritis in my hands
My skin is in excellent condition too, but I can't attribute that to these supplements entirely, since I use so many other products. Its hard to pinpoint whether its the pills or the potions and lotions that are the reason for my healthy skin.
I used to get the pills from Vitacost, but their shipping costs to Canada were outrageous, so I changed over to Doctor's Trust. Shipping was about $8 or $9.00 via USPS.

Hi. I started taking 140mg (one capsule) of the LifeTime brand Natural Hyaluronic Acid. I get mine from a local vitamin store. Quite pricey ~ 30 capsules for $29.59 ~ but the only brand they carry.
I started taking HA because my skin and eyes were very dry/dehydrated from hypothyroidism (just started treatment for this). The benefits I've seen is what seems to be a slight plumping of the skin a couple hours after I take the pill. Could be my imagination to assume such a direct cause/effect. I started HA before thryoid replacement so I believe HA specifically is helping to provide increased moisture.
