I'm using a 22% Vitamin C serum underneath an OTC retinol product, and I swear my skin looks worse compared to when I was just using retinol. Around my eyes, it looks very dry, clumpy, and I think some fine lines are more apparent, though this may be because I don't moisturize at night because it would burn my face.
I think the concentration is too high for me, I know it SHOULD work, so should I just use far less, or even use it every other day? I know you can't do this with retinol but the mechanism of action for Vit C might be different.
I'm a guy btw, if it matters. Thanks beforehand! |

I worked my way up to 20% & my skin responded well. One day i tried 25% & the skin under my eyes felt like it was burning & was red for days. That was about 6 months ago. Ever since, the skin has been very, very sensitive but i think it is recovering now. I have also suffered with dermatitis under my eyes in that time, which i've never had before. Not pleasant!
I've cut the % back to around 12.5% & i don't put it under my eyes anymore. I have no problems with the lower %.
I moisturise about 5 to 10 minutes after applying the serum. |

Vit C can irritate some people, espeically with retinol. I get bumps from it and am fairly senstive. The eye are is more senstive. The combo can be rough too for some. |

One thing I want to suggest that without consulting with a skin care specialist you never try to use any formula or concentration in your face it may be harmful for your skin. First search the solution for your problem, consult with a specialist and do what he suggest to you. |

I have read that Vitamin C stays in your skin for 48 hrs, so only need to apply it every second day. |

I alternate 15% C with Squalane with Retinol. Too irritating to use either one daily on my neck. |
