Jane Iredale Blotting Papers - thumbs down

Just received Jane Iredale blotting papers in my recent EDS order. I wanted to try it because it's made from organic flaxseed and doesn't contain any powder. I also liked the pretty container it comes in! Very Happy

Other than that, I actually think the toilet seat covers - er, beFORE you sit down on the porcelain throne work better than these blotting papers and they're so much cheaper!

I found these Jane Iredale blotting papers to have the same consistency as toilet seat covers - there's a very shiny side and a slightly LESS shiny side. No matter, I used both sides to blot my face, I had to use 3 of these! I may as well go back to my el cheapo chinese rice powder blotting papers rather than pay $15.00 for these.

All in all, I'd say this trial was worth it. At least I have a permanent carrying case for free cut up toilet seat covers! Laughing

not sure why some of these blotting paper are so expensive. i stick with the cheap japanese ones.

If you don't like powder, the clean and clear ones work fantastic and are totally powder free.

The ones from Gatsby should be the same as the clean and clear ones but it's cheaper here. It's like a blue plastic film and powder papers don't even come close.

I use the Mary Kay blotting tissues. They do not have powder, and they are only about $5.00 US for a pack of 75. They work really well for me and I, um, have tried toilet seat cover cut up, which didn't work well.

chloes, I did a search for Gatsby and of course came up with tons of hits related to the Great, can you tell me more about this, it sounds intriguing!

waffle, do you mean clean and clear, like the drug store acne treatments? I'll have to check into this because I DON'T like the powder..

Here: Gatsby oil blotting sheets

My own favorites:

Clean & Clear oil absorbing sheets (US $4.99 for 50 sheets) I really like the package design - it's very easy to get just one sheet out at a time.

Paula's Choice oil blotting papers (US $5.95 for 100 and $2.95 for refill of 50 - a good price!) These give the most for your money that I've found, and work great, but it's difficult to get just one sheet out. I'm always stuffing the extras back in.

Thanks for the review. I never used a blotting paper since my face is never oily, but I still found your comparison to a toilet seat cover hilarious. I have had to use toilet seat covers to wipe before when I had to go to a public restroom that ran out of tissues. So now I'm glad to know there's another use for it if I should require a blotting paper. LOL

Another vote for the Clean & Clear.
I've been using oil blotting sheets for around 20 years, and Clean & Clear is my favourite. Have tried different kinds at all price levels, from super cheap to the Chanel ones that come with the refillable mirrored compact (not sure if they make these any more - I wouldn't recommend them anyway)
Some of the cheap Japanese ones are pretty good too, including Gatsby, but I've stuck with Clean & Clear for some years now.

If anyone in the UK can tell me where to buy Clean & Clear blotting sheets do tell!!!!!!!!! They are the best and used to be in Boots. But Boots has discontinued them for some bizarre reason. I used Decleor ones but nothing has been as great and cheap as C&C. They seem to be like gold dust to find in Europe.

I was going to buy these, but I don't think I will now I'll stick to my drugstore brand blotting papers.

The one advantage these may have over drugstore brand is lack of any other ingredients that can actually makes things worse! Fortunately, since I wrote this I don't really need blotting papers any longer. I still carry these around but haven't had to use them in months; pearl cream and MMU have really really controlled the oil.
