Are these totally different or is there similarity? I am looking for best to get gunk out of stubborn pores and for pimples on my chin and my son's nose. He is 11. If someone uses both I would love to know what benefits you see with each. |

I have and love Derma Wand, and it's great for zapping the 'occasional' zit. It's more helpful for mature skin issues though in MHO. It lifts and tones the skin.
I'm not familiar with the Facemeate, but I'm sure someone will chime in here and enlighten you on that. You can also do a search, and find a wealth of info on both tools.
For the issues you want to address though, (stubborn pores + pimples), you should probably consider the 'Clarisonic'. Many of the members really love and recommend it. There are several threads regarding it. If you decide to purchase it, here's the link for purchasing here at 'Ed's'...Good luck!

Hi - I have mature skin. I have Clarisonic but it does not do the trick for me plus I must have sensitive skin and it is too much for me. I can't even use a micro derm cloth. I am still not getting to the gunk out of my nose and chin. Our pores should ideally stay empty shouldn't they? Perhaps my pores are to large on nose and chin to stay that way with the higher oil production there. Also my 11 yr old has tiny blackheads on his nose. That is the only place rest of his face is perfect. Clarisonic would be too strong for him too. Once in a while one of the blackheads becomes a red pimple. I have tried everything on both of us except gadgets. We both have very nice skin but would really like to find a solution for this. I suppose hormones are coming into play with both of us. |

Ahhh! I see the picture more clearly now...lol.
One thing that I have always done, and I really believe in for clearing pores is steaming my face. It honest to God works if done a couple of times a week. It doesn't shrink the pores too much, but they will be totally clear.
Five to ten minutes of steaming over a pot of simmering water really opens the pores up, and gets the blood circulating. While my face is moist, and the pores wide open, I follow that with an aspirin + milk scrub. (Two aspirin dissolved in a spoonful of milk). Just apply to face and massage for a minute or two then rinse, rinse, rinse. Pay particular attention to the T zone, and omit the eye area.
If you find the aspirin irritates your sensitive skin, just use a warm, washcloth as vigorously as you can tolerate it. (It's a great natural exfoliator on it's own.)
The other thing I find is that omitting the T zone area with heavy creams, will reduce the gunky buildup. I have been using lotions and serums instead of heavy creams, and find that my pores have been clearer since the switch.
Hopefully some of this will be of help to you and sonny boy... ... For the dreaded hormones coming in to play, I'm sorry to say, you've only just begun...

I love steaming but should do it 2 times a week. Yes. I have to be careful because I can get parched and too dry during the winter here in the northeast while heat is on but it will soon be Spring. I try to do that steaming /aspirin thing on all of us but never turns out to 2 times a week. I am lucky if I get my son to do it once a month. It is great for him though. He does it with his father. They would like the aspirin milk scrub. I smear them with a mix of aspirin (lots more than 2), clay, yogurt and honey. They are not particularly happy campers as it dries. Particularly my son. They are good sports.
Well then I guess we were on the right track there. Just do more of it. Yes, only serums for our oily areas. I agree. |

Hello everyone! I bought a Derma Wan a few weeks ago, but it is the UK version and I can't get the DVD to play on my computer. Kassy, did you post somewhere about a video tutorial on the Derma wand? I do see an improvement in my eyes under my brow area, but it's done nothing for the fine lines around my eyes & upper lip. Maybe my jowls are a bit firmer though. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
On another note, I returned my DPL light back to Nancy and she was very nice. I felt guilty about spending that kind of money for minimal results. Now that I haven't used it for a few weeks, I do see that it helped with oiliness and pore size. My face did look better using it. I would repurchase, maybe after tax time.
Just my 2 cents!
Thanks! |

The video link I posted was for a professional micro current treatment.
I'm wondering if the video is available on one of the sites that sell Derma Wand..m! I'll have a look see and post a link if I can find one.
In the mean time, I wonder if I can download mine to the computer and send it to you? I'm not all that computer savvy.
Let me see what I can figure out....

Well guess what? Mine isn't playing on the computer either...It's telling me something about it being a 'movie', and my computer can't play it...
I've only just played it on my DVD player and watched in on the TV. Do you have a DVD player?
In the mean time, I looked all over the internet, and the best I could find was the infomercial. (Link in above post) |

You know, as I was typing "DVD" I thought "I never did try this on the DVD player... duh! I'm so used to going to my computer for everything
Thanks Kassy, I'll check out the DVD on the actual player and hopefully it'll play. I guess I just feel like some how I'm missing something in using it; like it's a magic wand instead of a Derma wand
Thanks ladies! |
