I purchased SKB when it was the talk of the forum. My favorite way to use it is added to my shampoo. It gives body and strength to my fine hair. Added to skin care products I remain neutral. Nothing earth shattering used on my face. |

I have tried it in my shampoo and conditioner, but my hair felt funny, like it was matted, and not squeaky clean, if you know what I mean. I only use it neat on my face now, after cleansing and toning. I do this once a week, to give my skin a break from CPs and Retin A, and although it flakes a bit when it dries (the SKB not my skin), my face feels lovely and soft and my skin has a glow. Everyones' skin reacts differently to products so this may cause a reaction on someone else, but my skin loves it. |

Hi Jun, I use SKB in a lot of ready made hair shampoos and conditioners to give my hair a "boost". I used seamollient in my DIY hair serum/gel in a recipe posted in this thread. http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=25610
If I use a lot of it, it turns into a gel and keeps my curls well defined - seems to reduce the frizz as well. When I use a smaller amount, my hair is left softer and not quite as sticky if I use a greater amount. |

Hi Ali, I've heard that as well but don't know how true it is. My hair is basically 2 diff. textures. The upper layer is fine, while the under layer seems to be slightly coarse; I reasoned I would obtain the most benefit by using SKB or seamollients in leave-in products, since I have to apply a lot of stuff after wash and rinse to control the frizzies and define my curls. I don't do the blowdryer thing and let it air dry. |

I see.. Thanks! i guess i'll need to do some experiments myself.. add it to my shampoo to try and maybe do a small sprintz with SKB to try.. =) do u add just add water to ur hairsprintz? I've found that getting a good hairdresser is really useful!
I use to need to spend a lot of time defining my curls (so i normally do japanese straightening).. however, i've decided to embrace my wavy hair starting of this year and is trying to find a good hairdresser that knows how to cut wavy hair and i found one..
With her help, i no longer need to use so much products on my hair, just a bit of styling creme n let it air dry itself.. the curls come nicely.. |

I’ve tried quite a few uses for SKB, some more successful than others. What I’ve settled into that works best for me is applying it straight to my hair, after shampooing and conditioning, while still wet and let dry naturally, if time permits. I do this every time I shampoo or wet my hair and can’t see myself giving it up. I’ve heard this doesn’t work for everyone though. (my hair is fine, straight, and very frizzy thanks to the humidity here)
I also like to mix it 50/50 with emu oil, and also 50/50 with rosehip oil, and use these 2 on my face and body. I’m seriously thinking of giving up all other body moisturisers and just using these.
I also like to keep a tube of straight SKB next to my desk to apply to hands, as it’s not greasy like most hand lotions and I can still use the keyboard.
Also, I do an overnight scalp serum most nights, 50/50 SKB and emu, with added coconut endosperm, soy isoflavones and rosemary EO.
Bath oil - jojoba, sweet almond oil, rice bran oil and SKB, with rosemary and peppermint EO. I love this!
Things that didn’t work for me -
Mixing with a surfactant and using as cleanser. Just didn’t like it.
Adding to conditioners. I tried several and it always turned to a lumpy texture. |

alim - yes, i use that in the bath water and it is rather greasy, depending on how much I use. Don't need any body lotion afterwards. The rosemary and peppermint really seems to wake me up if I'm sleep deprived.
Now all i need is a bath! At the moment I can only have a bath when staying in hotels |

I have baby fine hair. SKB has been a god send. I stopped using it for months because I've been crazy busy and my hair has been dreadful. Just one night of using it in my shampoo followed by a very small drop in water left in has made a big difference I will keep using it.
For face I do not know. When I add it to creams they ball up. Maybe it should be using separately on top of normal treatments to "push" them in? |

I still haven't figured out why the addition of either SKB or seamollient causes some products to "ball up". Perhaps it's the lack of emulsifiers to combine oil and water soluable products? Anyway, I've been using seamollient in my hair lately [much less expensive than SKB] and whether it's humid or dry, hair is left smooth, shiny, soft and curls are well defined. I rarely have any frizzies now. Between seamollient, camellia oil, jojoba oil and macademia nut oil, I don't use any commercial leave in products any longer; hair is healthier and so is my wallet. Now if only I could DIY my own clothes.... |

How is seamollient different from SKB. Did you get yours from GOW? |

They're basically the same, except that SKB is fermented and seamollient is not. Supposedly [and I say supposedly because I don't completely understand the process] SKB is supposed to be more readily bioavailable as a result of the fermentation. I did get my seamollient from GOW and have found it to be just as effective as the more expensive SKB. The ladies on that forum can also better articulate the differences than I. |

I think the SKB balls up beacuse the kelp pods are in the gel. I placed some sea kelp in some aloe juice and I noticed balls. I took some of the balls out and it was balls of I guess plant skin filled with gel. Maybe breaking the pods and straining the gel would help with the balling. |

I just bought some SKB from skinactives. Last night I dampened my hair, worked a couple of handfuls of the SKB through my hair, braided it, and slept with it in. This morning, I rinsed it out, shampooed, and conditioned as usual.
I noticed how easy it was to comb through my hair (which is not always the case). It feels very clean and silky, too. Today I got a complement about how long and beautiful my hair looks. I just turned 50 and I have shoulder-length dark blonde hair that has been highlighted.
I will definitely do this again! |

mmm, I will try this as well. I do not like the SKB as a conditioning treatment afterwards (it leaves my hair somewhat crunchy), but it might work as a pre-wash treatment. |

If you use too much SKB as a leave in your hair will be crunchy. I just use a teaspoon full in a cup of water and mix well. I put it in my hair after rinsing and it gives good body no crunchy. My hair is baby fine. |
