I learned about http://www.flexi8.com/flex/index.html from the naturally curly forum. I ordered a couple for my daughter and myself. I thought they were really pretty and unique. My DD has fine straight hair and I have very curly hair and they work for us both! They're priced reasonably too! |

Looks really cute, but isn't it hard though? Putting it on yourself? |

It's actually really easy and holds a lot of hair. I ordered small for wearing my hair half up and medium for pony tail and tails up. They are both slightly too large for my intended purpose for them, so I'd recommend erring on the side of getting it too small (and I always thought I had a lot of hair!). HTH. |

I saw these on NC too - do they actually hold better than a barrette or clip, or do you just like them because they are so pretty? |

I would say the hold isn't as tight as a regular barrette. However, especially for us curly girls, a barrette just flattens out the curl and it doesn't look good. These are not only beautiful but they hold the hair in ways that allows it to look pretty. Much more attractive than a clip/claw IMO. The fact that there are so many sizes and a huge variety of beads is a huge bonus.
Like I said earlier, it even worked really well in my DD fine thin hair. She loves it. |

It's so cute! I'm also thinking to get one of those. Do you feel too heavy to compare with the regular plastic clip? =) |

It's very lightweight. Just make sure you UNDER estimate the amount of hair you have when ordering. Surprisingly, they hold a lot of hair. |

Most of them were from $11.00 - 14.00.
Question for TSJMOM - What design did you get? I need something for a wedding - I'll probably do a partial up-do. (extra-small).... |

I've gotten these types of barrettes/clips at RiteAid, Walmart, and CVS and they were made by normal brands like Goodie. The styles are the same, and the prices were anywhere from $5 to $12, depending on whether they had decorations like rhinestones. The sizes seem to compare to Flexi-8 small and medium. |

Me too Alison!
Sister - I got more simple designs w/out many crystals. I got 2 gold and 2 silver (sm and med). I got a celtic knot, gardenia, another flower (Tahitian something?), and a heart.
I got my DS an xsm aurora borealis. It's really pretty, so I might just take it back! |

I don't usually like things with the crystals and all that but I ordered one that had some.....and it wasn't too bad! I think I might actually wear it! Not really "bling-bling" like, just a nice touch of sparkle and femininity. |

Code: 32088
It's for 10% off or buy 4 get 1 free. I think they actually give you whichever price is lower for *you*!
NC is naturallycurly.com for those with naturally curly hair....but even if you don't have curly hair, there are generally nice people and the info is actually good if you have hair in general! |
