Help!
I desperately need to downsize my routine; too many products, too much layering. But I can't seem to find products that multi-task.
From antioxidant serums, to moisturizers, to sunscreens, to night creams, to eye creams...., how do you ladies stick to anything in particular?
Which products help you combine a couple of steps, or multi-task the best for you?
thanks! |

That's a BIG question. I tend to think you dont need separate eye cream, just extend your moisturiser? |

Great thread!
I use my eye cream for my eyes and lips, but can't see what I can cut out of. |

I got down to the bare basics over the summer: cleanser, acne spot treatment, and sunscreen.
Once winter hit I needed a light day moisturizer, and I've since added an AHA, which caused me to need a thicker night moisturizer. I've since added an eye cream (I loved the sample I got so I decided to buy it with a gift certificate I had). Now I'm back up in my product tally!
But as my goal for 2008 is to settle on a routine and stick with it for at least a year, I'm hoping I won't end up drowning in products again. |

I know I'm being redundant, but the only multi-purpose pdt I can think of truly is the SVR 50 s/s. It's a moisturizer (I have oily skin), s/s, and foundation in one. When you look at it that way the price isn't so bad ![Wink](images/smiles/wink.gif) |

This is a great idea for a thread! I wish I had a recommendation, but I don't think that I have any double duty products. Kind of sad, now that I think about it! |

very true about the eye creams. unless you have very sensitive eyes, or use very strong products on your face, or need something specific for your eyes that a face cream won't take care of (dark circles and puffiness, maybe) you can just extend your face cream to your eyes. plus, it's not necessary to use a "night" cream and a "day" cream. |

I agree about eyecreams unless your eye area has special needs, and I think, if pressed, most of those companies that sell seperate day and night creams for eyes would tell you it's fine to use just one for both.
I haven't tried it yet, but for those of you who use a seperate sunblock and primer...MAC Prep & Prime Face Protect SPF 50 has been getting some great reviews on MUA...I'm looking forward to trying this one!

I do use quite a few products. But if I had to taper back to just one I would have to stay with my J&B skin prep & ADCE. Of all the products I use, this one probably does the most and can definitely double as both a face and eye moisturizer if necessary. |

It's the name of a sunscreen. It has a spf50 and a ppd20. It's all physical and lightly tinted. So for me, it acts as a moisturizer (I'm oily), s/s, and foundation. The finish is very elegant, too. I often don't need concealer after using this. I get it at skincarecentral.biz . |

I focus on and stick to ingredients rather than products.
I used to apply serums containing "retinol" or "retinal" in nights and serums containing "vitamin c" in mornings.
There are many choices of such serums (referred to as product A).
I determine whether to add products according to whether product A I am useing has enough and appropriate "moisturizing and antioxidant ingredients".
There are also many products of such moisturizing and antioxidant products (referred to as product B).
So, my routine is often
product A, or products A+B.
Sometimes I like to do "brightening job" more.
Then I will choose the product B also having brightenning ingrdients, or I add a product c including brightenning ingrdients (often in serum form) in my routine, or I replace the vitamin c serum used in mornings c with the product c.
Sometimes I would like to try other anti-age ingredients than vitamin c, retinol or retinal, such as peptides or kinetin,
then I replace the new product with product A (or product A+B).
Sometimes, I like to avoid product A!!!
I then change to natural or aromatherapy anti-age products. |

Can't really skip a step with my routine. But I'm trying to find a nice moisturizing cream with SPF 30 that won't clog my pores therefore applying moisturizing cream and SPF protection can be one step instead of two. |

sigh. unfortunately i'm in the same boat: it would be difficult to slim down a routine. i like using a "pure" sunscreen product (mean for skin protection alone) than worry about finding a product with spf 45 and legitimate moisturizing properties. i do like my jason naturals moisturizer (25 000 IU vitamin e cream), as it moisturizes and contains a high level of the antioxidant vitamin e. my glycolic acid toner (8%) from reversa serves to brighten my skin, clear my pores, and moisturize... i guess thats my best "do it all" product! |

I use the same oil blend (around 70% macadamia and 30% avocado, I think) for a facial cleansing oil, a facial moisturizer, and a body moisturizer. I also sometimes shave with it, and I occasionally put it in my hair or mix it in with my conditioner.
Also, I use Devita Solar Protection Creme 30, which is a moisturizer and sunscreen in one. And I often use eye cream on my lips and/or lip balm around my eyes.
And I sometimes shave my legs with conditioner or body lotion.
Lots of products can multi-task, you just have to be bold about it! ![Very Happy](images/smiles/biggrin.gif) |

I'm currently addicted to the homemade asprin mask with white sugar and Vit c crystals added, and then lightly rubbed as an exfoliant when wash ed off. It's better than anything I could buy - I'm amazed. The vit. c serum was making me breakout, so I thought maybe if I added it to a mask and didn't keep it on my face for too long it would be ok. I feel like I've joined the Vit C Changed My Life Club and got rid of my zits at the same time. I'm traveling right now and my skin STILL looks pretty good - a miracle! Travel usually kills my skin..... |

Does anyone know if the MAC Prep and Prime Face Protect SPF 50 is different than just MAC Prep and Prime? |
