There hasn't been a lost of discussion on the forums about this product so I feel it may be very under estimated in its ability to calm the skin after a peel or exfoliation.
I have used this product for quite a while straight after doing an exfoliation and have always thought it was a very nice product to apply following the exfoliation. As I normally use gentle exfoliation methods I did not realise how good it was at calming the skin until just recently. I have never used peels but had a sample of a peel which I thought I would try. Two minutes after applying the peel, my skin felt like it was burning so I washed the peel off but my skin still felt very irritated. I then applied the Remergent Antioxidant Refoliator and within a minute of it absorbing, my skin stopped burning, the redness disappeared and my skin felt very calm and soft.
The texture is about halfway between a serum and a cream and is easily absorbed. It is designed to be used after peels or exfoliation treatments so the bottle will last a long time if used on these occasions.
The main ingredients are:
Thiotaine ((ergothioneine) Thiotaine is a new amino acid in the personal care market that is both a powerful antioxidant and a catalyst for oxygen use)
Roxisomes ((arabidopsis thaliana extract, lecithin) A plant enzyme that repairs oxidative damage is encapsulated in liposomes)
Vitamin C + E.
When I apply this product, I don't use anything else before or after except sunscreen if it is in the morning as it also feels very moisturising without being too heavy. It has never caused me any breakouts.
I love this product and feel it is well suited to its purpose and could be used by any skin type.

catching up on your posts, i see???
have you ever used this on an area that is just red??? i've got this waiting for me back in the states (they mucked up my order) and was planning to try it for my lower neck/uppes chest area where i have persistent redness. nothing else seems to work and i thought this might be the little bit of TLC the area needs. |

Ages ago, I used my sample of this after doing my Epidermx (original version) treatments, and it made my skin feel beautifully soothed afterwards.
As soon as my budget will allow, I'll definitely be investing in a full-sized version. |

Ok Bushy, now I have another product I want! I have started using Remergent DNA , Barrier Relief , & Microcirculation. I've been very happy with them although it's only been a few weeks. Now, I have this on my "I want" list. |

Hmm.. I have a couple of samples of this still, haven't used them yet as I don't really use any peel products right now. Do you think it's worth using this after normal exfoliation (I use an exfoliant a couple of times a week), or would it just be a waste? |

I don't have any red areas so really don't know on that one but it certainly removed all the redness from the peel. |

I always use it after a normal exfoliation even though I only use a gentle exfoliator. I don't think it would be a waste at all and I use this instead of any other product I would have applied. IMO it probably enhances the exfoliation.
Mine has lasted me six months so far and I still have some left and that has been using it once per week. I think it will still last a couple more months which makes it fairly economical to have on hand.
I tend to now treat it like a skin saviour considering how well it worked after the terrible peel I used. |

I was waiting for a review on this product. I need something to calm my skin after having IPL treatments for hair removal. So once again this will be added to my wishlist. Thanks again for another fab review. |

I've found the little sample tubes from Remergent last quite a long time too - the samples I tried of the DNA Repair lasted about a week each, so I've probably got about a months worth of the Refoliator to try out and see if I like it . |

You don't purchase samples, you can request samples when you make a purchase & EDS will send them-if they have them in stock. |

If you live in the U.S., I believe that Remergent still sends out their little sample packet on request. |

Bushy, do you happen to have an ingredients list handy? Can you check and see if the refoliator contains silicones?
I have a sample sitting here and have been afraid to use it, because the barrier cream has silicones but I'm not sure about the refoliator. (I know that the DNA repair does not, however.)
Thanks

Here is a complete ingredient list:
Antioxidant Refoliator
Water,Isocetyl Sterate,Cyclopentasiloxane,
Squalane,C20-22 Alkyl Phosphate and C20-22 Alcohols,Glycerin,Glycine Soja (Soybean)Oil,Cetyl Alcohol,Hydrogenated Coco-Glycerides,1,2 Hexanediol,Arabidposis Extract,Caprylyl Glycol,D-L alpha Tocopherol,Disodium EDTA,Ergothioneine,Isohexadecane,Lecithin,Linoleic Acid,Phenoxyethanol,Polysorbate 80,Sodium Acrylate/Acryloyldimethyl Taurate Copolymer,Sodium Hydroxide,Tetrahexyldecyl Ascorbate
The Cyclopentasiloxane is a silicone and is also in the DNA Repair, so the DNA Repair does contain silicones!
BTW I posted complete ingredient lists for all the Remergent products in the following thread: http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=12373&highlight=remergent+ingredients

that is so strange! then why doesn't the DNA break me out when most silicones do??? are all 'cones not created equally? very confused now |

la vie en rose-All silicones are definetly not created equal!! I am no silicone expert but I have been looking into them some since I have been using the SkinMedica C and there is just so much to know and so many different varities with different qualities! I wouldn't be surprised if there are some that don't cause you to breakout. |

BBD, TheresaL beat me to it. I don't really know a lot about silicones but there are many products which cause me to break out however, none of the Remergent products do. In the past, When I removed occasional chin hairs I would sometimes end up with a cyst from the ingrown hair. I have never had this using Remergent or Valmont products. |

Thanks, you guys. Well, the cyclopentasiloxane in the DNA Repair stuff didn't bother me at all, so I will try the refoliator the next time I use Epidermx.
But I'm going to stay away from the Barrier Repair sample. I know my skin doesn't like dimethicone.
Someday when me ship comes in I will buy a full size DNA and microcirculation cream. I have really seen a different in my eye wrinkles with the microcirculation stuff!
Great product line. |

Is there any reason why you couldn't use this daily? |

I don't see any reason why it could not be used daily. It was designed to replenish skin after a peel or exfoliation so could be quite good on a daily basis. |

Then I'm going to try it!
I'll do the DNA repair in the morning and the refoliator at night.
It's been a nightmare trying to get started on accutane but I think I'll finally get to start in the next few days and it seems like it couldn't hurt to have a few extra skin boosters while I'm on it...but I guess we'll see |

I've posted elsewhere my experience with Remergent. Bought the Refoliator, DNA Repair, & the Barrier Repair not knowing they had any 'cones since this line, along with other xpensive Swiss lines apparently don't provide the complete list of ingredients to EDS (otherwise, wouldn't EDS list them as it does for every other product?).
Was really looking forward to using this seemingly luxurious line. Ahhhh, but I was wrong. The first few times using DNA Repair, skin seemed normal enuf. But then I checked closely the ingredients on the boxes & realized they DID contain 'cones. Ah well, I thot, this is such a lovely line, my skin won't react as it usually does to 'cones.
So totally wrong!!! As you can guess, a very expensive lesson for me
I will NEVER again touch anything with 'cones and most certainly NEVER again buy anything that doesn't readily provide a complete listing of ingredients so that I know up front what my money is buying.
I don't care what the science says about some 'cones, my skin's reaction is what I care about. And it's language to me is pretty ugly when I put 'cones on it, regardless of how chic/expensive is a product or rave reviews it might receive.
I only blame myself for being a fool for not thoroughly verifying the ingredients before I bought an arsenal of Remergent products. |
