Honestly, you might as well not use the Obagi if you are not using the Retin A. The nu derm system is designed to use with the Retin A and you won't get results without it in my opinion. |

when i first used obagi, i did not use retin-a. Yet, I got much improvements after weeks.
Then, I added retin A, and my skin was even better. |

I stopped using it after a week or so. My skin turned red terribly & I just couldn't convince myself keeping that look every single day to my work. Even though it worked at the end, the whole progress was torture! |

Actually the most important part of it is the Retin-a. That's the part that is going to make your skin peel and make more healthier skin. Really, you could do without the Obagi line and just use a cleanser, toner and Retin-a, it would be much cheaper and do the same thing. I buy the Retin-a from my dermatologist but I buy the generic version (tretinoin) and it costs me about $30. I buy a drugstore brand cleanser and toner and it's been great. |

I feel if you have hyperpigmentation, Obagi is the best system and it does work as a system. Retin A is obviously one of the important components, but the hydroquinone products are equally important. Have you used Obagi, luvmakeup1000? |

I agree...Retin A is the most important products in the Obagi line. It helps your skin in the regenerating process and aides with the peeling. |

Obagi alone will help somewhat with pigmentation issues but if you are going to look terrible (red, flaking, acne etc.) for 8 - 12 weeks you might as well go all the way and get the retin-A and see great results at the end.
I recommend this regime to a friend but warned her about just how bad she was going to look and that you have to patient. |

It does require a lot of patience, but you start to get used to dealing with flakes and redness. The end result is worth it. |

Actually, I did try the obagi line, after I had already been using the Retin-a and my skincare routine. My Derm said I would get better results but I didn't but I was out alot of money though. I'm always up for trying stuff to get my skin looking better after years of tanning. It lightened up my skin for a little while but now I have many more sunspots than ever. I put on 50 spf daily but it didn't help, I only ran around running errands and taking my kids places, I can't stay out of the sun totally, I have to drive around but oh well. |

I agree 100% that Retin A is the key, and a simple program would be a good start!!!
It seems from the description of your skin, Retin A would do wonders.
Just remember to start carefully using a pea sized dab for your whole face, spreading lightly and quickly. Some people think more is better, and use too much, which results in too much drying and redness. Try using only at night, with a light application (if needed) of a light moisturizers after.
Keep in mind not to get too close to your, eyes, nostrils and corners of the mouth as these areas are more sensitive to the drying effects of Retin A. |
