You guys know I have enough in my arsenal that I shouldn't even be contemplating yet another day serum. Well, I got a sample from a recent sephora splurge & naturally I tried it.
Darn thing works Yes, I am miserable about it because it's ridiculously expensive for what amounts to an amazing make-up primer. This litle bugger purports to relax fine lines, firm & brighten & plump. I've used it twice. It's immediate, it's wonderful. You can feel your skin tightening & plumping up.
Since it works so fast, the effects are obviously temporary-that's why I just used it as a last step before my ss.You can use it alone as a treatment serum, but I can't give my other skincare warriors.
The texture & scent is great-very light & disappears immediately-no problem with layering it with my other miracle potions. Don't ask me to describe the scent-I'm really bad at this-but it's very light & fruity . I have never been able to use a primer-too greasy & too spackly-till now.
This serum will be great in summer, there is a mattifying effect as well.
I don't often do reviews (esp. on a serum I've used 2X)-I think this may be my first one. I'm either right behind Katee & her reviews with a quivering CC or respond to other's reviews. But, I felt this was special and wanted to tell you about it.
For immediate gratification, this stuff rates a 5/5 |

Marina--- do you know the ingredients of this stuff?? It sounds very tempting--- I just worry that it might contain silicones and I'm trying to cut those suckers out... |

Yet again another Fresh product with BHT. I was very disappointed to find out how much of this line really does. |

Here's the thread where I first posted about it
http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=18137
It's an ingredient in embalming fluid and has been known to cause liver damage, tumor promotion and other problems. I don't know about across the skin barrier and I do realize that in small amounts it is considered "safe." But if you are using multiple products with BHT in it?
HOWEVER, Fresh puts it in some of their LIP treatments, meaning you ingest it. Eewww. I almost bought that. |

Wow Paris, that info you gave was great!!! You are such an asset to this board!!! Even in small doses, BHT does not sound like something I want to put on my face. Actually, I don't like the sound of a lot of the ingredients in that serum, to tell you the truth. (Sorry Marina--- I'm glad it's working for you though!!!!!) Recently I've made a big change in my skincare routine--- I've been trying to eliminate any and all skincare and makeup products that contain fillers, silicones, petrochemicals, nasties, etc. (The one exemption here is my prescriptions... but I'm looking forward to the day when I can cut back on them, too!) I've been using Epidermx dutifully every night and I honestly believe that it is making my skin just drink up all the products I use--- which is more reason than ever to only use products that are going to nourish my skin. Also, I theorized that if I'm not putting anything nasty on my face, I won't need to wash it so vigorously, so for the first time in my life I'm only washing my face at night (Naturderm Triple Lavender Face Foam, LOVE IT), and then in the morning I give my face a quick once over with Zenbiotic's Rinseless Cleanser and honestly my skin looks so good I even feel ok going out in public without a thick mask of makeup!!! Which reminds me, I swapped out my drugstore makeup for mineral makeup too--- much more pure! |

At 25 & 26 yrs of age, you guys don't even NEED stuff like this anyways. Jeez, what's to plump & firm..you're still SO young At 26, I wanted to de-plump my cheeks & you could bounce a penny off of them. You both are on the right track for a lifetime of beautiful, healthy skin...at my age, I look for shortcuts when I can get'em... |

Hi marina - your review sounds great! The very long list of ingredients probably scares me more than singling out the embalming fluid. I'm 54 -- maybe this is something we need in our regimen! |

uhhh...april, please don't call it embalming fluid...BHT will do nicely . I'm not sure how you'd like it...I believe you have dry skin. The tightening feels nice, but I don't know if you'd like it..esp. if you find dmae drying. I mainly like it as a primer, my acne scars (pitted ones) are 'filled in' and are much less obvious. I also like the mattifying effect. |

Too late to edit, let me get back to you about the drying I mentionned above, I just looked in the mirror & I look 'dewy matte) if that makes sense. In all fairness, I've only used it twice, but..I just looked in the mirror again.. I can't believe how good my skin looks. BHT be d**ned. |

Haha...I should really take the time to find out which of the products I use have BHT before I go criticizing other products...turns out Sofina Nuance Up has it!
I love this sunscreen.
Maybe the BHT will help preserve my face as it does dead people.
I'm still mixed on the way I feel about it. I'm sure I put worse stuff on and in my body though.
Le sigh. |

For what it's worth PSF uses BHT in their retinol products. IMO if PSF is using it maybe it is not so bad after all. It is interesting to note that PSF calls BHT a spin trap which is true-it actually does have antioxidant benefits. Years ago I read a book and the authors were actually ingesting BHT as part of a life extension plan. I don't know if they still do this though. Paris you are probably right that there are worse things than BHT..... |

Marina,
Normally I would look at that ingredient list and say "No way -- too many oils and glycerins". But I know you have oily skin just as I do. It doesn't make you feel oily(er) as the day goes on??

So far, no..I'm actually matte. By the end of the day, I'm 'glowy matte' and I haven't powdered or anything. I got the deluxe Sephora sample..I am being stingy with it though. I'm on my third day using it. I'll report back & let you know. I'm going out today..and nothing gets me oil glands working like fenzied Christmans shopping If it lasts through that...it's a keeper! |

Bumping this thread up - I'm very interested in this serum (especially after reading this old (and very tempting ) review by marina).
Anyone else who has used this serum can comment further on a longer term effect? |

I am have the Anise day serum and I like it very much! It does on nice and light, and absorbs nicely. And my face isn't all oily at the end of the day!
I am also using their mamako night serum and like it. Now when I go to makeup counters the person there doesn't say to me that my skin is dry!
I goit a sample of their appleseed scrub recently too and it is great. It made my skin feel really clean! |
