I have always been a liquid foundation user (revlon colourstay for years). I have wanted to try mineral foundations and in the past I have ordered Pur Minerals and Bare Ecentuals, both of which I hated! Neither provided enough coverage or lasting power. I was wondering if Jane Iredale was any different/better? Has anyone ever switched to a mineral powder from a liquid and been 100% satisfied and switched? |

It really depends on how much coverage you need. I find you need a really good concealer when you use mineral makeup. If you're only having to conceal a few areas, mineral makeup is a very natural finish. A great alternative to applying a heavy foundation everywhere - even areas you don't need it. Not to mention the skin benefits. Also, a good brush makes a big difference. A kabuki brush will give you more coverage. Regardless, mineral makeup will be a big difference from Revlon Colorstay (which sounds like a full coverage foundation) but it could be a difference you could get used to.
I'm not a Jane Iredale user (Youngblood, for me) but it's gotten great reviews. I used to use Bare Escentuals too and found it accentuated my fine lines and made me look "shiny". Is that what you hated about it too? |

I have no major concerns with my skin. I'm 25, skin is slightly dry for the first time ever. I do have a slight red undertone to my complexion but nothing too serious. I know it is a no no but I use powder over my liquid foundation too, I just like the finish. That's why I was considering a mineral foundation. |

If after you moisturize and your skin is a little tacky, will a mineral powder still go on smoothly or would it be best to use a foundation primer? |

I suggest a cleanser that is gentle for dry to normal skin. It can be foaming for summer and a creamy one for winter. The slight red undertone could be irritation so a calming moisturizer or lotion is recommended.
As for the powder on top of liquid, I am not sure why you think its a no no. Whatever works for your skin as long as its not irritating. Powder is supposed to set your foundation so it doesnt melt off.
For dry skin minerals there iswww.barefacedminerals.com
www.mineralboutique.com with vitamin e
www.lumierecosmetics.com Flawless Foundation or Cashmere
www.evansgarden.com is one of the best natural skincare lines out there. No parabens and chock full of quality ingredients. 15% for first time orders. I love the foundation cream. It works great with my minerals.
I think once you start a good skincare line your skin wont be so red or dry. I didnt know all those years of skin dryness could be fixed until I started to use products with rose and geranium in it. |

I have used: Everyday Minerals, Jane Iredale, GloMinerals, Trish McEvoy mineral makeup and probably a zillion others I can't remember!
The key for me is finding the right shade.
Tend to use them in the summer (oily, acne prone skin).
Just ordered ColorScience mineral makeup...read some good things and like the look of the brush in the container...will see what's it like when it arrives. Hopefully next week!

Thanks for your help, I'll check out these websites and maybe find a spa that carries them to maybe try them out first! Thanks! |

I use a mineral make-up for day time, but I still use a liquid make-up for night. I find that the mineral make-up doesn't provide as full a coverage as I want for a big night out |

get Jane Iredale! I have dry-combo skin and my friend has oily skin and we both use it. Gives really good coverage and doesn't look dry/powdery.
You might want to get their base if you're oily.
BE makes my dry face oily ![Shock](images/smiles/shock.gif) |

I agree about Jane Iredale. I've tried PurMinerals, Everyday Minerals and Bare Escentuals and thus far it's my favorite...it really lasts and it has SPF built in (no need for another layer for SPF). It is also somewhat waterproof, so you can sweat in it and it won't rub off. pretty amazing. |
