I started developing small red pimples in my under eye area after I took a drug (finasteride) that messes with enzymes and thus with hormones. I have quit the drug long time ago now, but the problem only gets worse: the pimples have spread on the whole under-eye area and also under the nose, it has become dry, itchy, flaky and very red. The skin feels very cracked and unnatural. It also worsens the wrinkles a lot. Can anyone try diagnose the state? What could it be? Is it hormone related? How can I cure it?
Atm I just put oil on the area to make it less dry, but it only works, when it's on. When the oil has worn off, it's as dry as it was before Sad. And it can only get rid of the dryness: the redness with the pimples still stay.
It's very depressing, because it looks really bad. I start to get comments more often asking, if I have got beaten up, am allergic to something or if it's swine flu. I'm pretty sure it's related to finasteride, because there are a lot finasteride and ex finasteride users with EXACTLY the same problem. Can anyone tell me what's going on in my body?
I'm also planning to visit a dermatologist, but I know I won't get a real answer to this. This side effect isn't listed on the paper with finasteride, so they won't even try considering it. They will just start blaming the weather or something external, but I know it can't be this: I have never had such dryness before.

Not best images other finasteride users with the same problem (mine is a bit worse and developed, will soon post also):

Thanks!

P.S. I even have a small doubt that this dry skin maybe related to my worsened fine lines I started especially noticing after taking the drug.

for what it's worth... I found this site... They list a tiny bit of info on derm side effects...

http://www.drugs.com/sfx/finasteride-side-effects.html

I googled the terms... pictures are extreme... so don't go freaking yourself out... but I'd ask the DR. about it...

Dry skin does seem to make wrinkles worse...

This sounds like a very uncomfy problem... hope you get resolved soon.

Thanks a lot! I wouldn't have been able to find this on my own. Cutaneous leucocytoclastic vasculitis seems to be the term and the pictures are a bit similar, but a lot more extreme.
