I recently found out that not only is bismuth bad for the pores, but so is dimethicone. Now, dimethicone seems to be in ALL the mineral makeup out there???? Anyone have any suggestions for me. I need to find products that are pore friendly...thanks!! |

If it's any help, the colours seemed quite forgiving and balanced.... on me at least. |

Any suggestions for someone who would have a skin tone close to warm silk from JI?? I have fair skin and yellow undertones.
I should e-mail the customer service?? Thanks for the feedback that they are balanced. |

I have tried several different companies in an attempt to find one that didn't turn orange on my skin after a few hours, didn't contain bismuth etc. wasn't too matte/drying and matched my very very fair skin.
After trying several brands, I am very happy with UGloGirl...the website is a bit 'girly' but don't let that turn you away as its one of the best products out there. If you email Melissa with a photo she can suggest a color(s) for you to try. The site sells samples so you don't have to chance things on a large container.
My favourite application brush is Alima's #25 by the way!
Good Luck! |

Thanks Mayamax,
I have e-mailed three mineral companies;re-juvmineras, ferro, and Uglogirl. From looking at all the web sites and ingredients, Uglogirl has the highest quality ingredients!!I e-mailed Melissa a few pictures of my skin color to get a good match!! I am excited to get a new MMU.
I was thinking of how most MMU do change color on my skin by the afternoon when a little oil comes to the surface of my skin.
Thanks for the great advice. I also think Ferro comsmetic have great looking products!! |

Hi Sister, They are apparently having some unexpected difficulties with the website today so she said to bypass the cart and email them directly until it's resolved. Their email is info@ferrocosmetics.com . HTHs! |

I've tried so many too and UGlo Girl worked out to be one of the better ones for me with a decent colour match and zero irritation. What I didn't like about it was that it seemed to lack staying power with both the foundation and the eye shadows which made it a bit unreliable for me. With work, it is important that I be able to put it on and not worry about it throughout the day and also because I am not keen on carrying a lot of product with me or doing frequent touchups. I will say that adding pearl powder in my routine did help ameliorate the problem somewhat.
Both Ferro and UGlo Girl use the same containers for their eye shadows as well as the wide-mouth containers for their MMUs. Love those wide-mouth containers! |

Havana8,
Thanks for the info. I too do not take any makeup with me, only lip balm, so that is important to know!!! I will get samples of both companies and see how it works on my skin. DO you set your MMU with a mist of some kind?? I found that really helps!! |

I have recently browsed in MMU mania forum and the best MMU it seems came Lumiere, from people "who tried them all" as with best staying power. Went to check their website, not only you are spoilt for colour choice but for Formula as well:
Flawless - normal to dry skin
Veena Velvet - normal to oily skin
Luminesse - all skin types (normal, oily, dry)
Cashmere - all skin types (normal, oily, dry)
INGREDIENTS:Flawless Foundation:
premium grade serecite (colorless mica), titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, iron oxides, boron nitride, silica, magnesium stearate, squalane
Luminesse Foundation:
premium grade serecite (colorless mica), boron nitride, zinc oxide, avena sativa, titanium dioxide, iron oxide, tocopherol (vitamin e)
Cashmere Foundation:
silk powder, serecite (colorless mica), titanium dioxide, zinc oxide, boron nitride, iron oxides
Anybody familiar with this brand? |

Try doing a search on EDS, czech1970, as lots of people really like Lumiere. I wish their MMU worked for me as there is lots to like about their offering including how affordable it is, but unfortunately it didn't. I do like their concealer, pearl and silk powders though!
p.s. Alima and Everyday Minerals are also popular on EDS |

Thanks for that, I've only tried BE. We are sort of "limited"and overpriced! about MMU brands here in UK. M |

If you check outwww.makeuptalk.com there is a list of mineral sites. There are several UK and European mineral lines. If you checkwww.etsy.com there are homecrafters of minerals too. I know there are a few from Australia as well. |

I have looked at the Lumiere MMU, and they look very nice. However, I did get a skin consultation from Melissa at UGloGirl, and WOW, she is amazing, and very precise with color matching. I was amazed not only at the BEST CUSTOMER service around, but her expertise was spot on....FINALLY I know what color my skin is - based on the technical terms!!
Due to this experience I think I will try her products as they do look like some of the highest quality ingredients out of all the others, including the Luminere!!! |

I've tried several. My current favorite is KT Naturals. http://www.ktnaturals.com/ They even offer free samples http://www.ktnaturals.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=18&products_id=102 (it comes with 2 foundations, a finishing powder and a blush for $2.50 shipping - or you can add up to two more foundation samples for $1.00 each.)
One thing I love is that she offers refills in baggies. I have plenty of jars and I prefer to mix my colors anyway, so the cost savings by being able to buy in baggies vs jars is great. She is also the quickest I have ever used as far as getting it shipped out to you.
I like Meow, but I eventually tired of having SO many foundation colors to choose from. Also, especially when you are just choosing samples, it seems like it took a long time to process the order. I just don't have the patience for them anymore; however, with my one munchkin of foundation, and probably 30 samples of foundation, eye shadows, and blushes, I'm set for quite a while.
Aromaleigh was also good and I used it for quite a while before I got in the sampling mood! I used the Voile line. I don't have anything against them now, I just prefer KT Naturals better.
All of the above three do not contain BO. I found that irritating when I used Bare Escentials.
KT Naturals: Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide, Iron Oxides, Ultramarine Blue. (No micronized ingredients used.)
Meow Cosmetics: Purrr-fect Puss (original): Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Iron Oxides. (No micronized ingredients used.)
Pampered Puss: Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide, Iron Oxides. (No micronized ingredients used.)
Flawless Feline: Mica, Zinc Oxide, Titanium Dioxide, Boron Nitride, Iron Oxides. (No micronized ingredients used.)
Aromaleigh Voilé: Mica, Titanium dioxide, Zinc Oxide, Silica (Silicon dioxide), Iron Oxides (No micronized ingredients used.)
Here is a link from Mineral Makeup Mania that lists a ton of the companies and the ingredients to their foundations. http://people.delphiforums.com/tracikenyon/IngredList22405.html
When I decide to sample again (i.e. when my will power gets low!), I am going for Lumiere in the cashmere formula.
Lumiere Mineral Cosmetics:
Cashmere Foundation: Silk Powder, Mica, Titanium Dioxide, Zinc Oxide, Boron Nitride, Iron Oxides. (No micronized ingredients used.)

I noticed that the only difference between UGG and KT Naturals is that UGG has Silica Microspheres. If you were to order from both companies and could tell any difference, you might be able to form an opinion about silica and how it responds to your skin. This would help you down the line as far as ingredients go. With my particular experience, Aromaleigh had Silica and KTN does not. They have a different feel from each other.
On a side note, I love the pink flat top brush from UGG! |

Hi,
I think silica is okay for my skin. I am trying to avoid the EVILS of MMY such as bismuth and dimethicone, which is in several MMU companies.
I have looked at all the individual ingredients and how they are prepared, such as pressed titanium verses micronized - which is apparently bad for ones health (inhaled).
As I mentioned, the customer service is UNBEATABLE from UGG!!! We have exchanged a few e-mails to get the perfect shade, who spends that time with customers??? I do like smooth, light minerals, so I think I will love the product!!!!! |

I hope you do love the product. I went back in some of my posts on another forum a year or two ago to try to figure out why I didn't try UGG samples when I was ordering my flat top brush from them. I think the only thing stopping me was cost, as they are about twice as expensive as some of the others. (Yet probably not anywhere near as expensive as others! I'm just poor ! |

True about cost, YET if you compare them to either Jane Iredale or True Cosmetics, whom both contain a TON Of unwanted stuff that is cheaper than what UUG uses. So, all in all it is relatively inexpensive.
Due to having had adult acne that comes and goes, I really NEED to have good coverage, hence when an entire cheek decides to break out like crazy!!
I also found with all the MMU I have used, is that it does last a long time!! Mine is usually 6 months, and that is with everyday use!!! |

Yeah, if you are comparing them to JI. I don't know how big their container is, but I have just heard that it is about $40 - $50. They don't sell it near me, so I have never seen it in person.
I haven't even ever heard of True Cosmetics. (We've got Wal-Mart, CVS, and Walgreens. Need I say more - hence, the internet shopping.)
I thought BE was expensive as well - especially compared to what I was used to paying. But at the time, it was the only MMU I had ever heard of. It wasn't until a few years ago that I was trying to figure out why my face was itching that I stumbled onto people talking about BO and suggesting Aromaleigh. After I was with Aromaleigh and their forum, somehow I stumbled onto Mineral Makeup Mania and I was totally dumbfounded by how many MMU companies there were, not to mention the ability to buy the raw ingredients and make your own!!! |

I understand what you are saying there! I tried Cory once because they say it is one of the heaviest coverages. I had a hard time getting the application method down on it though. It was almost too heavy. You would have to apply it very sparingly to avoid it getting too heavy and then add layers if needed. I need a bit more forgiveness and ability to spread.
However, I do still occasionally use what is left of my samples of Cory for spot uses, almost like concealer. I am light/med and have yellow tones, so most foundations that don't work for me as an all over, work pretty well as under eye concealer. |

aa6660, thanks for your review, I've just ordered samples from KT Naturals. I wanna try UGG too, but shipping fee is quite expensive - $12.00 Flat Rate for international order. |
