I LOVE this board for all the tips and reviews on skincare. Will save me big $$$$ in the long run. My skin has been so crazy and out of control with the breakouts lately that I am paranoid about every product that I am using not sure what is causing all these reactions.

PLEASE share if you have found a great shampoo that is SLS free!

Thanks-
Heather

Hi Heather!

I am really loving John Masters Organics. There is a great post on it in the review forum with lots of opinions, including mine.

I am using the Zinc and Sage shampoo along with the Avocado conditioner.

Happy reading!
Bosoxy.

I love Phyto.
I've used an shampoo for anti-dandriff, it really worked, and did not make my hair dry

I second the John Masters Organics and also Lavera. I've been using the Lavera Cornflower Shampoo (SLS-free) with the Lavera Rose Milk Repairing Hair Conditioner and love them both.

I love the lavera rose milk conditioner, and I was really curious if their shampoos would containt SLS: I am so glad they do not!!!
I need to try the Lavera shampoo as well: are they soft?

Hi Londonfan, I am not sure what you mean by "soft"? I included the link to my mini-review. Maybe the answer is in there! Laughing

Just curious- does anyone know how all these sulfates rank in order of severity? If you had to pick one, which would be the gentlest?

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Ammonium Lauryl Sulfate and Ammonium Laureth Sulfate?

Also- is it like makeup in Shampoo, that the further down the ingredient list, the less likely to have an effect? I noticed in Jason's supposedly organic shampoo that it had Sodium Myreth Sulfate which is supposedly just another name for the laurely sulfate, but it was way down in the list.

Faith,

Which do you use and how do you compare the two?

I am new to John Masters and just loving it and not sure I want to tempt fate by trying something else... but JM is pricey.

Thanks!
Bosoxy.

I just started using Wen, the cleansing conditioner. I've only used it once so far, but I can already tell a difference. I was pretty skeptical, especially when actually using, but I think it really works.

It's totally sulfate free. Not sure if it's organic, but it seems like I heard it was.

I'm using the Kiss My Face organic shampoo that is SLS free. It's good for my coarse hair -- leaves it wavy with body.

Jonathan has some really good products!! I'd recommend them in a heart beat. My fav product of theirs is their leave in conditioner, although the rest of their products are good as well. My favorite organic shampoo is probably Ojon's Tawaka. I'd go to QVC.com and purchase the sampler kit first though. Some people have had better results than others. It makes my hair really silky and shiny. If you use their revitalizing mist afterwards, it adds nice gloss and bounce as well!

the problem with many hair products which claim to be "natural" is that they use many harmful chemicals regardless. burts bees has been trying to create a system of regulation so that companies must undergo a series of tests before they can claim that their products are "natural". anyways, back to the post at hand!

i tried nature's gate (at loblaws), but they dried my hair out quite a bit, although the smell was heavenly. next i tried aubrey organics' GPB line. the shampoo took some getting used to, because its grainy and very viscous. you have to use enough of it in order to clean your hair. the conditioner is based in a coconut oil, so the cream itself is shimmery. man, can i see a difference in my hair! my hair is SOFTSOFTSOFT and shinier than its ever been! my only problem with these last two products is the smell! its quite strong; so much so that i've had migraines! i'm currently working on a mixture of the GPB products and some lovely unscented herbal hair products (by nature clean, also at loblaws) in order to keep reaping the benefits that aubreys gives my hair!

Check ingredients- many of the listed shampoos are not so organic. The purest shampoo available is from Morroccomethod.com , if your hair is damaged, rotate it with Aubrey Organics shampoo. Use Rosemary essential oil to "repair" your hair, and Bach's rescur remedy on it after chemical treatments or abuse. Buy a Mason Pearson hairbrush- it's an investment. The Pine Shale shampoo at Morroccomethod.com is the easiest to start with. I use it even on my face as a cleanser and it is the only "soap" we use on our son.

Many Blessings

I don't normally use Organic shampoo, but I've tried squeezed LEMONS on my hair, leave it a few minutes, and rinse. My hair was very shiny and soft to touch. You may want to try this if you are looking for organic shampoo??? Smile

go to cosmeticdatabase.com and click on shampoo.
They have lots listed with a rating as to safety and a breakdown of ingredients that are issues.

Very enlightening!
