Hi Jojo and welcome The backbones of a good starting regimen for gals our age are:
Cleanser - gentle, pH of 5.5
Vit c - in the am
Retinoid - start slowly, small pea-size amount, in the pm, build up in strength over time (ie months)
Sunscreen - every day no matter what!, look for a high PPD # (usually European s/s like Avene and Bioderma) (this protects against UVA = "aging") as well as high SPF (protects against UVB = "burning")
These are the basics. You then tailor it to more specific needs - more moisture if dry, more antioxidants, products for acne, etc.

Hey there! You should go to a dermatologist and ask their opinion. The last thing you need is to spend loads of money on products that may or may not work! Scars and sunspots can be removed by a dermatologist/skin doctor...no need for any fancy skin care products. |

Hi! yes it can be overwhelming
I would say, if you think you want to buy something expensive, search EDS and google to find the same main ingredients in cheaper products - in the early days of your skin experimentation.
tsjmom sounds sensible. I would just add that you might want to add a moisturiser on top, you could use a cheaper choice or emu oil, which is inexpensive, but effective. |

I would go get a high quality facial (a place that carries good products with a good reputation- aka expensive) and get some advice and try some samples from the salon. I am also 40+ and going to a local well-reputed salon has basically defined my skincare regime over the last 15 years. My skin has benefited tremendously since before I had miscategorized my skin due to bad makeup counter advice and my own misguided observations. Once I found the right products, my skin knew it. |

Yes, I'm curious too. I've used ADCE for about 3 years and have seen great results! ![Confused](images/smiles/confused.gif) |
