Hi there, glycolic acid - an alpha hydroxy acid that naturally occurs in sugar cane - is good for discolouration of skin. I have good results with Australian brand Alpha-H. Go to QVC in UK I read the reviews... |

I think you are right that each age bracket has different skin care necessities. I am 34, starting to see fine lines around the eyes and some discoloration too. I don't want to overkill and use products that are too stong, which I think can cause more problems than you started with.
I am using Caudalie radiance serum, which claims to reduce discoloration. While I love it for making my skin smooth, I haven't really seen any brown patches fading (yet .. after only about 2 weeks).
So, I haven't been much help, really. Hopefully someone will give us some good 30 specific advice. |

Exfoliating becomes more important in the 30's. Cell turn-over begins to slow and this really helps to keep skin fresh & youthful. Epidermx II is a wonderful product to assist gently in exfoliating the skin. I would also recommend incorporating a AHA/BHA serum for additional light exfoliation and a vitamin C serum. Both of these should also help lighten any brown spots.
Oh and sunscreen, sunscreen, sunscreen |

I have an eight month old and had acne while pregnant. I am also just over 30!
Now that my skin is back to being clear, I have added a night treatment to my regimen--the IsClinical acive serum. so far i like the results and plan to buy again. this is supposed to combat acne, wrinkles, and dark spots--one stop shop! I have been using it since November. |

I swear by exfoliating every 2 days, Jansen Beckett's skin prep and Alphaderma CE. I'm 33 with rosacea and a few brown spots. I've decided to try Pulsed Light Therapy to help with my redness and sun damage. It even claims to soften lines and help your skin build collagen. I've had one session so far. At $125 a pop, I hope I see a considerable difference! |

I think Dr. H line is very basic. i have the quince cream and never use it alone, i always layer a nutritive serum underneath.
I think the Alpha Derma suggestion is excellent. and the Osea APC cream is amazing too.
and are you using an eye cream? that is a must.

I am at 34 and are having regime similar to CMAYC, with JB kit (just started for more than 2 week) I think it does work for my lines but as for the brown spots, it may need a longer time... will keep you gal posted. |

I have had great success in my 30s with Obagi Nu-Derm. Got rid of my adult acne completely and evened out my skintone. Expensive but is actually works. |

I would recommend any of the Decleor products. They work a magic. If you can afford more expensive products, then, sisley is very good. |

I don't think you can say things like "when you are in your thirties, you should use this or that...". Rather, it has to do with the condition of the skin to start with; is it robust, thin, dry, less dry; sensitive, acne-prone, level of sundamage, lifestyle (smoker, sunbather...), and so forth.
I am 36 myself, and have always taken good care of my skin. I have never smoked, and I protect my skin against UV-radiation, and I don't have any discoloration or wrinkles. My major concerns are (1) dryness and dehydrating and (2) sensitivity. I can't use most ingredients which are considered anti-aging; both retinol/other vit-a derivates and vit C give me a rash, for instance. However, I am using glycolic acid under a suitable moisturizer, and also a hydrating serum or oil, and as long as I'm sticking to such a simple regime, my skin is happy. Whenever I try something more sophisticated, my skin gets irritated, with dry spots, and sometimes also minor breakouts.
So the most important thing is to find out what will work for you. I suggest that you use a antioxidant of a kind, as long as your skin can tolerate it, in addition to using a high spf. |

I'm 35 and have not always taken care of my skin. I have sat many hours in the sun throughout my life and the negative effects are unfortunately starting to show. After trying numerous amounts of products I am very disappointed....most do not do what they claim. I went to a skin specialist a few weeks ago for fine lines around my eyes and mouth. I ended up buying a anti-aging product line that she has seen wonderful results with. I have only been using it for a few weeks and my skin is radiant. If this product proves to be the one I've been looking for I will let you know and recommend it. |

I'm 37 and just starting using PSF products, which I highly recommend. I love their BHA and Vit C serum. Using Retin A on a regular basis is also probably a good idea for someone in their 30's. |

Hi! I had some discoloration in my chin area from hormones (not sun as I have always worn a sunscreen), and was very pleased with the results I got from the Enlighten product (made by Osmosis)
My other product I really couldn't do without is Decleor Neroli oil underneath my moisturizer...it helps to hydrate my skin better than moisturizer alone. |

antioxidant is very important as we age... I think using Vit C serum really helps!
I also use PSF's ALA serum in the morning, as ALA (alpha lypoic acid) is a potent antioxidant. |

I used to use drugstore products but since I entered my thirties they've been wreaking havoc on my skin. I then started to use Eminence and Institut Dermed which worked but was way too pricey for me. I've discovered PSF which is much more reasonably priced and so far does the trick. I have one product in Phillip Thomas Roth which is still pricey, but I use it sparingly. |
