I started using Philosophy recently and like it very much. You might try using the Philosophy powdered vitamin c along with the serum, to increase results.
That said, the When Hope Is Not Enough serum shouldn't give immediate results, other than hydration. It takes about 30 days for a new anti-aging product to show any positive effect on the skin, aside from moisturization. Beyond that, this serum is generally an anti-oxidant serum, and anti-oxidants are protective as opposed to being necessarily skin improvers. The serum does contain peptides which are improvers, but even with peptides, you need to give it time before expecting noticeable positive change.
The Philosophy products have surprisingly high-quality, proven effective ingredients. I was impressed when I studied the ingredients lists on the Purity cleanser, Hope In A Jar cream, Hope In a Jar Replenishing cream, When Hope Is Not Enough serum, and the Hope In A Jar eye/lip cream. One thing I would add that I do NOT feel is true of most skincare lines is that these products do seem like they would work best when used together, given the ingredients in each product. Usually telling customers that they need to use all of a brand's product line for best results is marketing hooey, in my opinion, but with Philosophy each product has a key ingredient that would certainly enhance the other products.
All in all I think the Philosophy line is excellent, and at a reasonable price point for the high quality. Most importantly, many people I know who have ben using the Philosphy line on a long-term basis absolutely love it, and also have nice skin, so that says something to me.
The one ingredient missing from Philosophy that I wish was in one of their products is niacinimide, which I think has great benefit for the skin. I also use an Olay product with the Philosophy in order to incorporate niacinimide. Weekly, I use cold-pressed unrefined avocado oil as a mask, applied thickly and allowed to sink in completely. I used to use avocado oil every night but it's a bit messy on my pillowcases and so I am trying to use it only once weekly to avoid that problem. The avocado oil is truly wonderful, though. |
