I've recently become acquainted with an aesthetician who does ultrasound facials.
Has anyone had positive results with this type of facial, and would it be beneficial for someone with acne and oily skin?
Many thanks! |

I'm not familiar with these. Could you explain what an ultrasound facial consists of?

The aesthetician says it involves a wand that helps clear up the pores through the ultrasound waves.
I've researched this facial on google and what I came up with is this:
- it sort of helps in peeling away dead skin cells, and opening up pores
- it helps in making medicine or antioxidants penetrate the skin at a deeper level
This website has some useful information: http://www.nataliproducts.com/equipment2.html
I'm not sure if I want to go through this, I'd rather hear some feedback first.
Thanks! |

I've heard of using ultrasound to break up kidney stones/gallstones but never to clear your pores. Maybe if you had calcium deposits there, it might work.
Salicylic acid is the best ingredient for dissolving sebum/oil in pores. This ultrasound thing sounds like another gimmick. |

I have never done that method. I've read on their site that it used to exfoliate the skin. I don't think the ultrasound will help to clean out your pores. I wouldn't suggest to do this ultrasound facial until you get information that this method really working for other people. |

I would ask the esthetician for before and after photos from her salon, not from the manufacturer. This ultrasound facial seems a bit hokey for me. What's the price of a treatment, if you don't mind? |

I'll be meeting with the aesthetician this evening so I can buy my first batch of Jane Iredale makeup and absence.
I'll take advantage of the opportunity to ask her some more about the ultrasound procedure. I really liked your suggestion to ask for before and after pictures because I didn't think of that. I am somehow sure she won't have any however, but it doesn't hurt to ask.
Will let you know about her price, too. Thank you for all your responses!
**UPDATE**
I never did go back to her after I got all my essential Jane Iredale cosmetics. If anyone has tried the ultrasound facials please let us know how it worked out for you.

I know this thread is a few years old, so I'm not sure if anyone will get this post, but I'm going to post anyway
Ultrasound is a really excellent way to clean out your pores, and literally use a low frequency vibration to wiggle debris out of the pores and gently exfoliate the skin. In addition, Ultrasound can then be used to create an increase in circulation and micro-channels through the skin to help penetrate your active products up to 1000 times deeper than regular heat/steam or massage alone.
There is alot more information available on the 302 Skincare Thread (be warned, its massively long!!) and skinspatula.com, which is where I got my professional table top ultrasound unit.
I personally love my Ultrasound unit, it works great and I get visible results right after I use it. Plus its great to see all the gunk that comes out of your pores!! |

Danke Nemo. I had a spa facial twice with ultrasound technology. I believe the aesthetician used Glymed products and I think they might have been a bit mature for my needs. I didn't really know how effective it was, I mean I was 20 at the time. I do remember my skin feeling super clean after, like the groggy summer air of the city had been lifted off my face. I appreciate the tip. Being a visual person I'd probably love to see the debris that comes out of my skin. Ick tmi! I'm sorry.
I love your name btw it makes me laugh. |

Sounds interesting. Is it like ultrasound tooth cleaning? |

Does anyone know if Glymed products can be used with the Fyola facial massager? It has both Ultrasound and Galvanic modes. |

I don't see why you couldn't.
I can tell you when I had mine done the esthetician used Vitamin E Sensual cream
and a Vitamin C treatment as well. If I remember the others I'll post em.
HTH! |
