Does anyone have an idea at what age can I start using Dermaroller for help with wrinkles?
I`m turning 30 soon and have under-eye and NL lines... and hate them
can I start using Dermaroller at 30 for help with NL lines and for preventing other?
TIA |

I would think 30-35 would be about right depending on an individual's skin flexibility. I would not use it until a loss in skin flexibility was noted. There is a long thread on the other board that has a link to a very nice article that might answer some of your questions. I've been VERY happy with my results so far. After a few weeks I notice lightening of pigmentation spots and a more even skin tone and as the months go by I've noticed breaking up of fine lines, real improvement of a scar on my arm (was visible about 1.5 inches long now I can see about 3/4 inch, and better skin texture on my neck).
I am overjoyed with the results.
I do not think young people should use it simply because they should not necessarily encourage faster skin cell turnover. |

I will try to find this thread.
I think my skin has still quite good flexibility, so it may be not necessary yet.
thank you, sharky! |

Even for the young, though the .25 dermaroller is good for increasing product penetration. |

I'm 35 and use the .25 needle length. I just started this week. |

skincarefreak, would you mind sharing what skin problems you have and what you are using it for?
I`m mostly concerned with fine lines and enlarged pores...
and please - keep us informed of your progress!
thanks |

Hi Aviva,
I got the dermaroller for fine lines, large pores, and slight sagging around the cheeks. Hope that helps. I will be posting periodically on the dermaroller thread on how I've been doing. If you like I can come here as well. |

Actually, I think I'm going to post on the dermaroller thread. I'm not sure if I can still find this thread in a couple of weeks. Have you read that thread? If you're interested in the dermaroller I think it'll be a good thread to read. |

I wouldn't use dermaroller at all. I always thought it best to treat your skin gently. I can't see poking holes into your skin! Also, aren't you opening up to infections, etc.? In my opinion your skin should be kept clean, moisturised and covered in sunscreen. Gentle exfoliation is good. |

Doohicus,
I understand how you feel. I felt that way a couple of years ago, but now I use the .25 inch needles. For me, it wasn't a barbaric ritual. Infact, I've gotten more damage from using peels than the dermaroller. Just giving my opinion as well. |

Yes, I can see why the dermaroller would be a turn off for many people. It sounds crazy!!! And it doesn't feel too pleasant, either! If you do your research, though you'll find out that it's perfectly safe if done correctly. Bottom line as to why I use it? It works!!! And it has been working better than any thing else I've tried!! I use it for fine lines under eyes. |

honestly, I just don`t care how insane it may sound... I care only to have as beautiful skin as for me is possible. And if I shoud poke holes in it to achieve it, I will
lilredhead, I didn`t know it can be used under eyes! isn`t the undereye skin too thin and sensitive for that? |

I've been using the 1mm under my eyes with no problems. (except my sneezing... check that out in the other thread} I'm going to move up to the 1.5mm when I need a new roller. For me it raises little bumps wherever I use it, and I do draw some blood with it. Fear not, the bumps are gone by the next day but you may have to use concealer to cover the redness for a couple of days. Some people peel a lot but the peeling is mild for me. All I know is I'm seeing smoother skin and diminished fine lines... so I'm overjoyed!!! |

Oh sorry to post again... I wanted to share with you that the skin under my eyes is really thin and I have those purplish dark circles and it still works well. No help for the circles, though... I can only wish! |

Oh lilredhead, you are a kind of a fan of "extreme sports"!
I don`t think I`m that brave to use it under the eyes up to bleeding!
I must definitely be a little coward |

but still - your example is encouraging - at least now I know that under-eye lines CAN be diminished!
thank you for sharing!! |

I use under my eye but is has small needles. My eyes looked fine afterwards. No redness or bruising at all. |
