I just returned last night from a Caribbean cruise (and yes, I used my sun protection)...but I have to tell you the difference in people who protect and those who don't, can be dramatic.
I was travelling with a group of late 40s/early 50s and some of their kids in their early 20s.
Of course, the twenty somethings had beautiful skin...but it was the variance among their parents that really caught my eye. Case in point, a friend, same age as myself - 52, has a tremendous amount of sun damage and has already had several cancerous spots removed from her skin...her back, her chest, her face are all mottled with spots and deep wrinkles and hollows. It was quite alarming to me.
So the public service announcement for the day - is that we can spend all the money we want on rolling, lasers, creams, etc. - but if we aren't protecting our skin in the first place, we're barely treading water.
Posts about sunscreen always catch my eye and hopefully yours too. Here in the US, recent laws were supposed to go into effect regarding product labelling, so I need to go look at that as well.

Very, VERY good observation. It's one that needs to be taken to heart, too!!!
I always protected my face and some of my body, but my shoulders burned several times a year for most of my life. There is a HUGE difference in the quality of skin on my shoulders vs. everywhere else. The sun does horrible things to great skin! Heed these warnings when you see them!!!! |
