SKIN can never look the same all through your life. You may have had good skin in the 20s, but with each passing year, your skin type changes. Hers what you need to know to keep your skin looking good for life
In your teens
Cleanse your face regularly, day and night, and use a sunscreen during the day.
Even if you are endowed with good skin, you need to follow a good cleanse-moisturize –and –tone routine.
If your skin is pimple or acne-prone, get it checked by a dermatologist and keep away from oily formulas.
Keep check on your diet. Don’t gorge on oily foods. Eat plenty of salads and fruits and drink lots of water
The 20s
Check for any fine lines of wrinkles.
Follow the usual skin care routine.
Cleanse your face well to remove all traces of make-up don’t go to bed with make-up on.
Skin needs to be exfoliated at least once in two weeks.
A sunscreen should be part of the daily routine.
The 30s
Your skin needs more care now than ever. If you have not protected yourself from the harmful rays of the sun. This is when it will start showing-in fine lines and wrinkles.
Get a facial done once a month. It will rid the skin of impurities like dead skin and blackheads.
Apply a night cream regularly. Your skin soaks in lot of good in the night and with an effective formula, it can soak in a lot more.
Keep your skin moisturized at all times. Dryness can do a lot of damage to skin. In fact, the new age moisturizers can do a lot more for your skin –they make you glow on the outside and do wonders from within, too.
In the 40s and 50s
During these years, the skin undergoes a lot of change. it can change from oily to dry and vice versa. This is also the time when menopause sets in, bringing with it a host of problems. Change your skin care regimen to suit the present day requirement.
Wrinkles and fine lines become more visible if proper care is not taken. You need a good day and night cram, cream, besides the old cleansing and moisturizing routine. |

Ageist. It really irks me (read : p's me off) when there is some categorical advice to "Women Through the Ages" -- and the advice stops at 60. The authors are telling us that women over 60 do not exist -- or might as well not exist. It's horrible. What about women 60-90? It's a formidable group. We don't die -- or become skinless -- at 60. Hullo??? |

That's a good point! Although sometimes I see "60 and beyond" or something like that. Oh well, 60 is the new 40! I want to look good good way past that, and based on my family history it'll hopefully be waaaaay past that. My family history is weird- everyone's either killed in war or a freak accident or something or lives to a very long age. My great grandmother is the widow of a man who was killed when he was really young and she is still alive, her birth date is 1900. In a couple of months, she will be 108 years old. |
