I've spent a small fortune trying to find a nude nail color. I have fair skin and most nude colors look washed out because they don't contrast enough - it always looks like my nails are an extension of my fingers! To me, nude colors look so much better on medium toned or tanned hands but I sure don't want to add tanning my hands to my routine. |

Stick to the soft pinks or Iridescent polishes. That way there is a color to them, soft but a color. If you use pale colors like nude, or whites I can see how you would feel like they are just an extension to your hand. |

I am very fair and I use OPI Samoan Sand for this look. Samoan Sand is a sheer pale beige-pink without shimmer. Really pretty and classic. It's been a staple of mine for years. |

Soft pink is definitely the right colour, as bergquis suggested. Essie in "Mademoiselle" is a nice, nude-pink colour for pale hands. |

NARS in Candy Darling is a nice sheer nude. |

Here are some sheers that I really love:
OPI Bubble Bath - looks pink in the bottle but goes on very sheer. Sometimes I do two coats.
Essie Delicacy - very pretty by itself; is virtually clear on my nails with a slight irridescence. Really nice layered over Bubble Bath!
Essie Fed Up - very much like Bubble Bath, but warmer in color. It's my warm-weather version of Bubble Bath.
Essie Cool-Lots - my warm-weather version of Delicacy.
None of these pales streak or have that white-out look that some pale polishes have. BTW my skin is very pinky-pale and I have the same problem with nude colors; they just make my nails fade into my fingers more than they would without any polish.
Please do not tell anyone that I love just looking at these very slightly varying shades of pale pink colors in their bottles, all lined up on my dressing table - they'll think I'm nuts! Only people here would understand! |

Thanks ladies! Believe it or not, I've tried all the colors suggested here - except for Essie Mademoiselle and the Nars. I'm actually trying to zero in on a light color with complete coverage (not sheer) but also with some contrast. I think I will try something with a pink tint as berquis suggested because the beiges aren't working. Gads, there are a million colors out there, I just don't want to have to buy all of them! |
