I am spending a few days in the SanDiego area and wondering what clothing to pack. What do you wear in southern CA during early Sept? White pants or not? Jeans? 'Nix' summer colors? I will be in La Jolla and nearby.
Where I live we lean away from summery looking stuff after Labor Day. What about southern Cal?

How gorgeous to be in La Jolla. It is one of my favorite places to visit.
You will be near the ocean but early September is our warmest time in the year. Honestly lots of shorts any color is fine (I am still wearing pink!), light pants, summer dresses. You could take a pair of jeans for evening walking around.
You might want to pack a very light sweater for the evening but expect the weather to be anywhere from the 70's to 90's (if we get a heat wave).
I don't live in La Jolla but am very close to the ocean and the only time I wear sweaters is usually Dec/January. I don't even own a long coat. Hope this helps. |

I live a couple hours away (LA) but I would just keep in mind that southern california is more casual than almost anywhere else in the world. Shorts, white, colors, anything in the daytime. "Dressier" jeans with a cute top is the uniform for most girls here. It will get chilly at night so make sure you have a cargigan or wrap you can throw over yourself (unless we are having Santa Ana winds wherein there will be warm breeze. love it) Enjoy your stay and don't forget your sunscreen! |

Hi agee, as long as you don't plan to wear flip flops every where you go, you'll be fine.... Summer wear is still in because it's still hot, but evenings are getting cooler. That's a perfect time to wear a summer dress paired with open toed sandals and a light shirt or sweater to keep you warm. Pantyhose are not necessary this time of year....
Good luck and enjoy your stay!
Personally, I"m looking forward to cool temps and fall wardrobes, I'm pretty much done with the uber casual apparel of summer... ![Smile](images/smiles/smile.gif) |
