Can anyone recommend an alternative to Botox? I've searched this website and noticed a few products like Dr Brandt and Freeze 24/7. Vivier also makes one called TMR. Has anyone tried it? How does it compare with the other products? |

Hi JanPalmer!
First off, welcome!
As for botox alternatives, the only ones I've tried are Browtox (from PSF) and Relax-A-Line and Relax Plus with Vialox from Cellularskin RX. I used Browtox first and had good results, but now I'm using both "Relax" products and they have made a huge difference...what was a faint "11" between the brows is now invisible! Different things work for different people, but my face seems to really like the "Relax" products!
On that note, here is a thread comparing Browtox and Relax:
http://www.essentialdayspa.com/forum/viewthread.php?tid=12301&highlight=relaxaline+browtox
You can also do this search: "Browtox AND Relax-A-Line" and you'll get tons of threads talking about these products and others of a similar nature.
Hope this helps some!

Thanks for the info Mary, and for the threads ... very helpful. I'll check into both those products.

I've tried Feeze 24-7 and I really didn't like the way it went on. I found a cheaper version called Insta-tox that works just as well without the thick putty/pilling problem. Did you like the Browtox? |

I have been using Relax-A-Line and Relax Plus with Vialox for quite a while now. They work very well. The Relax-A-Line is great for the crow's feet where you don't need a super strong formula for relaxing the muscles. The Relax Plus with Vialox is much stronger and works well on my forehead/"11" lines. Neither is one of those tightening/instant facelift products. They work over time....and the effects are additive. Now, after using both for so long, I use them about every three days or so...No more twice a day as I did initially. |

I wonder if relaxing is a real good mechanism for skin care. In my opinion, tightening is better. |

I have tried all of the products including botox and let me tell u there is NOTHING that can even compare to botox. Botox actually prevents you from getting wrinkles because you dont make the expressions that give u the wrinkles in the first place. Case in point; when a person has a stroke and has half of the face paralyzed,20 yrs later the paralyzed side has no wrinkles while the other side has wrinkles. |

Freeze did absolutely nothing for me. I'm another Relax-A-Line fan. |

I was going to ask....why not try botox?
I've recently had my crows feet and brow done and I love it. I thought it would make me look like a rabbit in the headlights, but let me tell you it is so subtle and fabulous that I will definitely be getting it done again (just have to wait to fall pregnant have the kid and stop breastfeeding).
The effects of Botox are supposed to last approx. 3 months. I would recommend it to everyone.
It is a bit scary at first (I'd heard a lot of horror stories) but now LOVE IT!!
I have full feeling in all parts of my face, but now my husband doesn't get the full force of my angry face - he should be grateful. |

For me, although I'm a little wary of botox anyway, the reason I don't use it is that I can't afford it. |

Lucy you never met my mother. Definitely better than botox
When I was a child my mother constantly, and I mean constantly, was at me, “DON’T FROWN, YOU’LL GET WRINKLES”
So much so, that to this day I can not, even if I try, cause my forehead to scrunch up/wrinkle. If I try, I can almost do the 11’s thing, sort of. But I certainly don’t have a single wrinkle in that area and I’m pushing 50 now.
I guess if you don’t use the muscles they atrophy/waste away and I learnt as a youngster not to dare frown... LOL I thought my mom was a complete nutter back then, but I have to say I’m grateful now
(and also grateful for that weird opaque sunblock thing, zinc oxide base i think, that she smeared all over my face every day that the other kids always laughed at) |
