| I recently got a Sonicare toothbrush and I don't think I'm using it correctly because the bristles on the head are already looking frayed. Just how hard am I supposed to be brushing with it anyhow, does anyone know? |

| Hi! As far as I know you're supposed to brush fairly gently. I told my dentist I was scrubbing hard and he asked me not to do that. But this is all I know. Maybe someone else knows more details. It's kind of hard to define. |

| I've been using a Sonicare for years, and from what I understand you're not supposed to really apply any/much pressure at all. You have to get used to the brush doing the brushing for you. So basicaly almost just holding the brush on each tooth. My brush head never really looks frayed at all, but for a while I was applying more pressure than I should with the brush and my dentist told me my gums were receeding due to the fact I was brushing too hard. |

I agree with Sel. Just apply gentle pressure, that way the brush will be free to vibrate the way it is supposed to. If you press to hard, you impede the vibration and cause gum recession.
Speaking of Sonicare, I have been using the Sonicare Elite model for several years. I love it, but it's time for a new brush (battery is ending it's life) and I am considering switching to the Sonicare Flexcare model. Does anyone else here use the FlexCare? If so, would you recommend it over the Elite?

| Hi guys I have a question. I've got a sonic toothbrush, not sonicare but Braun's $30 one. Anyway I expected it to rotate like a normal electric toothbrush does, but this seems to sort of vibrate without actually moving much. So I have to actually brush the teeth. Is this normal for all sonic toothbrushes or do I just have a cheap nasty one? |
