I'm looking for a new mattress...and have no clue what I should be looking for!!
I prefer a firmer bed...I tried out some with a pillow top, but I read online that they might not be the best option since they sag...
Any suggestion as to what I should look for? Any brand recommendations? |

I like my Serta all foam rubber mattress with pillow top. It's a bear to move though since it weighs about 400 lbs! It doesn't have springs to sag, just layers of foam, etc. |

I have a Serta memory foam mattress and absolutely hate it. It's very hard to move, holds heat, absorbs anything that spills on it no matter how quickly you clean it, and sags in the middle when my husband and I are both in bed (he's a firefighter and not home every night). We paid a ridiculous amount of money for it and it's only 4 years old. I can't wait to get rid of it!
My parents have a really nice Simmons pillow top that I adore. I love it when they ask me to house sit so I can sleep in their bed! It's very comfortable, but not too soft. We'll be getting something similar next year when we replace the piece of crap we currently have. |

Mine is NOT the memory foam kind!! I hated that one too!
Mine is the regular foam one with a pillow top. Love it. It's so comfy and when DH turns and tosses, it doesn't even budge on my side like the innerspring ones do. |

I just got a Sleep Number. They're expensive, but I slept on a pullout couch for the past year because I didn't want to lug a bed to New York when I moved.
I had the lowest model, but upgraded to the 4000 model during the trial period. I sleep on my side and the 4000 has a pillow top and extra padding. I actually just got it today so I haven't slept on it yet. If you live near a Select Comfort store, you can test them out and find your sleep number. |

We use a memory foam 4" pad on top of our regular mattress and love it! This is an inexpensive way to see if it's what you like. |

We also have a memory foam mattress and love it. It's fab if you have any joint or back problems.
The only downside is that it does get very warm during the summer. |

do you all have the entirely memory foam mattress, or the coil mattress with the additional memory foam?
also, what is the price range I should look out for? I found a few that were lister at $1999.99 in store, but the sales people ended up dropping the price to $1300. They were continous coil mattresses with latex and memory foam. |

I can't stand mattresses with coils. My spinal condition makes me feel a little like the princess in that fairytale, The Princess and the Pea. Ours is just foam - but I think only the top inch or so is actually memory foam. |

I have an Isotonic 100% memory foam mattress (love, love, love it!), and have had it for about 5 years. It was made by the Carpenter Company, but I think they discontinued them!

Editing to add: It looks like they are now selling them under the name of "ViscoLux."

Isotonic has been proven to be cooler than Tempur Pedic due to the absorbant pillow top they put on it, but I think TP may have since come out with a similar version.
This site has lots of good guidance:

I have a Tempurpedic memory foam mattress. It is completely made of memory foam, i.e, no coils anywhere. I bought it a year ago and love it. No regrets about buying it. It does take a bit of getting used to initially but after that, I love lying in it every single moment. |

We have both Memory Foam and Coil mattresses at home. The Coil one is bigger but when we get really tired, the Foam one gives a better rest. I feel my body gets more relaxing with Foam. If you decide to go with Memory Foam, be careful not to get those too soft ones. |
